Hi, Everyone, lots of stuff happening, so listen up (I mean read up):
This Sunday, September 2nd, is the 15th Sunday after Pentecost and Nacho Name Tag Sunday. There will be an Oktoberfest Meeting after worship (at about 11:15 am) for anyone who’d like to help with this raucous fundraiser (it’s only 4 weeks away!), or please see Marta Wicke. I know it’s a holiday weekend, but you should still come to church because, well, NACHOS! (Oh, and honoring God, etc.)
Speaking of the holiday weekend, I hope you all have a nice Labor Day – I know I will, since the church office is closed on Monday. Who knows what kind of shenanigans I’ll get up to the one day I’m not here!
Speaking of labor, next Saturday, September 8th, we will be having a Church Work Day to neaten up the campus for a fresh start on Rally Day. Wear your favorite work duds and bring any tools/gloves/rags you think might be handy. Come any time you can – we will be grateful for any and all help. Plus, there will be food!
Speaking of Rally Day, it’s happening on Sunday, September 9th. We will return to our normal two-service schedule: 8:45 am for 20th Century Traditional, and 11 am for Service of Living Praise. Sunday School also resumes at 10 am between the services (see Cheryl Hall or Marta Wicke to help). Wear your “God’s Work Our Hands” or “Helping Hands” t-shirts to celebrate, and if you don’t have one, see Cheryl Hall ($8 for “God’s Work Our Hands,” $13-$14 for “Helping Hands” – not bad for high fashion!).
Speaking of stuff starting up again, Adult Forum will not begin until the following week on September 16th, and Tuesday Bible Study will return at 10 am on September18th with a Daytimers’ Luncheon following at 11:30 am (all are welcome). There will be a WELCA Meeting (Women of the ELCA) this Wednesday, September 5th at 10 am in the Activity Room. Music group rehearsals also resume on Wednesday the 5th. Instrumental Group is at 6:15 pm, Choir at 7 pm, and Praise Band at 8 pm. Anyone who plays an instrument or likes to sing is welcome – no auditions! And we have a lot of fun! (I’m not nearly as humorless as a Choir/Instrumental Group Director as I am in these emails. But that Praise Band Director, Terri – what a tyrant! [I kid])
Speaking of … well I guess this has nothing to do with the previous paragraph, but we are still looking for your comments, memories, and photos for a memory book being put together for Pastor Tim honoring his 30 years of ministry – 14 of them here at HTLC. You can just send them to me at email@example.com, and I’ll pass them along, or bring them in over the next couple of Sundays. So far, I’ve only gotten one photo (and it’s not even that embarrassing!).
I see your eyes are glazing over, so I’ll leave the rest until next week. Look for even more info in this Sunday’s bulletin insert (some of it incorrect – see if you can spot the mistakes! No prizes, though).
See you in church!
