Hi, Everyone.  Lots of stuff coming up:

This Sunday, March 11th, is the 4th Sunday of Lent and Scrip Sunday.  Remember Daylight Savings Time starts this weekend.  Before you go to bed Saturday night, set your clocks forward an hour so you aren’t late to church and give us six more weeks of winter (or am I confusing that with something else?).

Joann Anderson would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, words, cards and prayers as she recovers.  She is unable to respond at this time, but wants everyone to know their thoughtfulness is appreciated.

Midweek Lenten Services continue on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm through March 21st.  If you haven’t experienced these meditative and moving services, there’s only a couple left.  This Wednesday, listen as Pilate and his wife share their thoughts on Jesus’ death.

Due to a scheduling conflict, Family Movie Night will be moved up a week to next Friday, Mar 16th at 6:30 pm in the Activity Room. Join us for food and a fun family film!

This year we will have two – count ‘em – two Church Clean-up Days to spruce up the place for Holy Week and Easter.  We will have the usual pre-Palm-Sunday cleaning on Saturday March 24th, and one a week earlier on Saturday March 17th in case you can’t make the later one (if, for instance, you’re participating in the March for Our Lives event).  And, if you can’t make either of those days, there will be a sign-up sheet with a list of what needs to be done so that you can come anytime during the week (boy, you’re gonna have a hard time coming up with excuses now!).  Both clean-up days start at 9 am, and there will be tasks for all ages and abilities (plus snacks – don’t forget the snacks!).  The camaraderie (and snacks) make this a fun event.  Remember, “many hands make light work” (of the snacks).

Once again this year, we will have our Easter Garden in the sanctuary. Please sign up at the media table to bring a plant in honor or in memory of someone. Please print legibly to help ensure correct spelling in the bulletin (it’s none of my business if you want to dedicate something to Martian Luther – maybe you’ve been doing some extreme evangelizing!). Just purchase the plant –  any kind, size or color is welcome, and make sure it’s at the church by 10 am on Saturday, Mar 31st. Too much color is not enough!

Another thing you can sign up for is our annual Seder Meal on Palm Sunday (March 25th) at 5pm.  We will have a (mostly) traditional Seder Meal with all the trimmings and activities. Please sign up on the sheet at the Media Table so food amounts can be planned. Pick up a matzoh recipe if you want to make homemade matzoh for the meal. Suggested donation: $15 for people 12 and up, $10 for people 5–11, and under 5, free. Come experience this fascinating mixture of ritual and food!

Here’s our Holy Week service schedule: Palm Sunday services are at our usual times on March 25th (procession with palms at the 8:45 am service).  There will be a combined Maundy Thursday service on the 22nd at 7 pm with the local ELCA churches at Christ the King Lutheran Church (1301 Mowry Ave, Fremont).  We will observe Good Friday at 7 pm with a solemn Taizé service.  Please come and experience the full range of emotions from Palm Sunday to Easter.

The Spaghetti Feed will be here before you know it (April 14th).  Tickets are on sale between services.  They are $15 for adults, $10 for children 3-12, and $45+ for families.  Start getting together those donations of gift cards and prize baskets for the raffle and silent auction.  For the gift cards, consider using our scrip program so that Holy Trinity gets a cut (what a coincidence – it’s Scrip Sunday!)  And if you’re an avid shopper like I am, it’s never too early to look for deals for a prize basket!

See you in church!

Keith
