This Sunday, September 9th, is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, Scrip Sunday, and Rally Day – be sure to wear your HTLC-related t-shirts, if you got ‘em! Yes, it’s back our two-service schedule at 8:45 am (traditional-ish) and 11 am (praise-y) with Sunday School in-between at 10 am. We’ll be installing our Christian Educators during the services (don’t worry, Pastor Tim is a licensed installer). We will also be having the Blessing of the Backpacks (and briefcases, etc.) so be sure to bring your instruments of learning/working so you can get straight A’s/that raise (grades and financial advancement not guaranteed by HTLC, its affiliates or parent company [God]).
But before all that happens, on Saturday (tomorrow) we’re having a Church Work Day (yaaaay!). Let’s start the educational year off right with a nice, neat campus. There’s plenty to do for all ages, abilities, and talents, and you can come at any time your schedule allows (but come by 8:30 am if you want your peach clafoutis fresh from the oven!). Many hands make for light work and camaraderie! Bring any tools and supplies you think might be handy and wear suitably stain-worthy clothes. Don’t worry about hurting your back – there’s always the Prayer and Healing Station at church the next day!
Just a reminder – Game Night has moved to second Fridays, so don’t come tonight unless you want to play solitaire (or to say “Hi!” to the group of Girl Scouts who now use the room on first Fridays).
While we’re on the subject of scheduling, Adult Forum will not begin until next week on Sunday, September 16th at 10:15 am. Tuesday Bible Study will return at 10 am on September18th with a Daytimers’ Luncheon following at 11:30 am (all are welcome). There is also a Council Meeting next Sunday at 12:15 pm. Bring your best financial solutions (not “Fire that wordy Parish Life Coordinator!”).
The upshot of last week’s preliminary Oktoberfest meeting is that we’ve left it too long to do proper preparations (advertising, permits, tickets, etc.) for an all-out public event on September 29. But we still want to party (of course!), so we’re going to have it be a potluck for Holy Trinity members and their friends (kind of like the Lu-Wow), which simplifies and cheapifies things a lot (watch that budget!). We’re also pushing the date out into actual Oktober (exact date to be determined). Details are still to be ironed out, but we’re hoping free-will offerings for food and drink will cover costs and help lessen our deficit. Oh, and there’ll still be karaoke (sorry!).
See you in church!
