Hi, Everyone:

This Sunday, September 30th, is the 19th Sunday after Pentecost, and Stewardship/ Welcoming Sunday with a focus on how we can be more welcoming to others (my suggestion: more food events with leftovers for my lunch).  There will be a Baby Shower for soon-to-be new parents Diana and Collin Thormoto as well as Amanda and Charles Bartlett at 12:15pm in the Activity Room. Come celebrate with light appetizers and cake (that’s what I’m talkin’ about!). Contact Marta Wicke or Krista Lanzarotta for questions or suggestions.

Tonight is the fourth Friday of the month, which means it’s time for Movie Night!  Join us in the Activity Room at 7 pm for a potluck (food!), fellowship and a fun movie – “Solo: a Star Wars Story” (may the forks be with you!).

Oktoberfest is coming up quickly (more food!) on Saturday, October 6th from 4 pm to 8 pm. This year, it’s more of a potluck-style event with Hospitality providing the main dishes, and sign-ups at the Media Table to bring side dishes and to help with setting up and cleaning up. Karaoke and oompah music will fill the air, and there will be family crafts. The Sunday School kids will be on hand selling extras, and there will be free-will offerings of suggested donations (instead of tickets) for dinner, beer and wine. 10% of the proceeds will go to hurricane relief with the rest going towards our current deficit.  But most importantly, it’s a chance to get together and have a freudig good time! (And to show off those yodeling skills everybody admires!)

Animal Blessing Sunday will be the day after Oktoberfest – Sunday, October 7th.  Remember to bring your stuffed toy animals to be blessed during the worship services (notice I say toy animals – that stuffed bear trophy you got on your last hunting trip is probably too cumbersome).  After the second service, at about 12:15 pm on the patio, we will have the blessing of the live animals. Start training yours pets now to bow their heads and close their eyes!  (well, probably not the cats – they would consider it too demeaning)

See you in church!

Keith
