This Sunday, December 10th, is the 2nd Sunday of Advent. There will be a Nominating Committee Meeting at 10 am (woohoo!). It would be Scrip Sunday, except it occurred a week early (to get the gift cards in early enough for Christmas gifts). Remember, you can always order with your own ShopWithScrip® account by going to www.ShopWithScrip.com to register. You will need to enter HTLC’s unique enrollment code, B768EC1D14576, to link your account activity with Holy Trinity. That way, HTLC gets a percentage of the value of the gift cards! And boy, do we need it – the financial synopsis in this week’s bulletin insert shows we are $33,323.05 in the hole for the year so far (ouch!).
There’s no Saturday rehearsal for the Christmas Pageant this week, but please have your kids bring their pageant scripts for Sunday School. We wouldn’t want too much ad-libbing (“Sorry, no room in the inn – did you book online?”). Here’s the remainder of the Sunday School and rehearsal schedule for the year:
12/10: Sunday School 10am
12/16 (Sat): Pageant practice 9 – 11am
12/17: Pageant 10am (no Sunday school)
12/24: No Sunday School
12/31: No Sunday School
Music will be practiced during Sunday School time on Dec 10th. If parents could help with costuming and snack stuff on Dec 16th, that would be great. And everybody be sure to come between services on the 17th to watch the one and only performance at 10 am!
Tuesday Bible Study is taking a Christmas break. They’re not meeting this week, and won’t be back until January 9th, but of course that doesn’t stop the Daytimers from eating! All are invited to Lucille and Leon Klovdahl’s house (7874 Hazelnut Drive Newark, CA 94560) for a rollicking good time at the annual Daytimers’ Christmas Party this Wednesday, December 13th at 10:30am. Please let them know if you are planning to attend.
Those of you who signed up for the Angel Tea, don’t forget it’s this Sunday at 1 pm. I’m sure Cheryl Kuhlmann has all the info on how to get there if you need it. And if you need help getting rid of any leftovers, I’ll be in the office on Monday.
Please sign up to bring poinsettias for decorating the church on Christmas Eve. The plants can be given in memory or in honor of someone special and can be any color you choose: red, white, pink – whatever color you’d like to have die on you when you take them home after Christmas. Please deliver the plants to church by noon on Dec 24th. The sign-up sheet is on the Media Table.
Some special services at special times are coming up. Sunday Dec 24th we will have a single service at 10 am with the choir Sermon-In-Song. There will be two Christmas Eve services at 5 pm and 9pm with the usual between-service nosh at Randy and Vicky Kuhlmann’s place. (and no, you can’t skip the morning service by going to an evening service – Santa is still watching!) The following week on Dec 31st, there will be a single 10 am Service of Carols followed by a Christmas Brunch. We will be back to two services on Jan 7th (Epiphany!).
See you in church!
