This Sunday is December 18th, the fourth Sunday of Advent and Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. The Choir will boot Pastor Tim off the podium at both services with its newspaper-inspired Sermon in Song entitled “Good News!” (as if anyone still knows what a newspaper is!).
This Sunday will be the last Sunday to sign up to bring poinsettias for decorating the church on Christmas Eve and still have the dedication listed in the Christmas Eve bulletin. The plants can be given in memory or in honor of someone special to you and your family and can be any color you choose. Please deliver the plants to church by 2pm on Friday Dec 23rd. The sign-up sheet is on the Media Table. What? This is the first you’ve heard of this? I blame that un-coordinated Parish Life Coordinator who forgot to put it in the announcements last week!
Special services and times coming up:
On Dec 24th our Christmas Eve services will be at 5pm and 9pm with inter-service nosh at Randy & Vicky’s place for those who don’t want to go home between services.
On Dec 25th (yes, Virginia, there is church on Christmas Day) we will have a single service at 10am with carols and readings, followed by a delicious Brunch. Optional dress code is PJs or ugly Christmas sweaters (call them stunning Christmas sweaters if the giver is attending). Bring your favorite manger scenes for decoration!
On Jan 1st (yes, Tim, there is church on New Year’s Day) we will have a single service at 10am not followed by a delicious brunch. Bring your favorite hangover remedy! (Joking! (sort of))
The R&R Circle, unbowed by the holidays, claim they will be meeting on Thursday, Dec 28th at 10am. More power to them!

The 2016 tax year is almost over! In order to claim donations to HTLC as charitable giving on your 2016 taxes, we must receive it before the end of the year. There are offering envelopes and Catch the Excitement envelopes on the Media Table for your convenience. When it comes to being non-profit, we are over-achievers. So if you’re going to give money to a relative, make it Brother Jesus instead of Uncle Sam!
Have questions about the RIC (Reconciling in Christ) process? Want to know more? There are copies of the RIC FAQs handout available on the media table that can help answer your questions. Copies of the handout, along with more information, are also available via the RIC resources page: http://www.reconcilingworks.org/resources/ric/faqs/ And, as always, you are encouraged to ask questions and talk with anyone on the RIC core team ( Pastor Tim, Cheryl Hall, Cheryl Kuhlmann, Keith Hillesland, Diana and Collin Thormoto, and Nate Wicke).
See you in church!
