This Week at Holy Trinity, December 23, 2016

Happy Christmas Eve Eve, Everyone!

Tomorrow night is Christmas Eve with services at 5pm and 9pm packed with special music and candles aglow.  Between the services there will be a gathering at Randy & Vicky’s house (5848 Hafner Way in Newark) to fortify ourselves for the later service.

Christmas Day has a single service at 10am with readings giving a soup-to-nuts version of the Christmas story punctuated by appropriate carols and hymns.  (No sermon, if that’s a drawing point for you)  The service will be followed by a Brunch (definitely a drawing point for me).  Dress code is pajamas, ugly Christmas sweaters, or other festive attire if you desire (you can even don your gay apparel – we’re inclusive!).  Bring your favorite manger scene for decoration.  (Maybe label it with your name – someone might get a crèche on it and take it home!)

Office hours the following week will be a little iffy due to holidays and such for PT (office parlance for Pastor Tim) and the PLC (office parlance for Parish Life Coordinator (PC parlance for Church Secretary)) – best to call before making a trip.  For sure the office will be closed Monday Dec 26th and Monday Jan 2nd and probably Friday Dec 30th (for that official holiday Richard’s Birthday – but don’t tell him I told you).

New Year’s Day is also on a Sunday this year.  Start the New Year off right (if not totally coherent) by going to church!  On Sunday Jan 1st we will have a single service at 10am.  Come and ask forgiveness for everything that happened the night before!  And don’t believe the Sunday insert which says there’s a brunch – that was left from the week before (darn you, Copy & Paste!).  I’m not even sure if there will be nachos.

This Sunday is not only Jesus’ birthday, it’s also the last Sunday of the 2016 tax year.  In order to claim donations to HTLC as charitable giving on your 2016 taxes, we must receive it before the end of the year.  So if you would like to give a birthday present of gold to Jesus (frankincense and myrrh are nice, but…) there are offering envelopes and Catch the Excitement envelopes on the Media Table and in the pews.  And a big thank you to all who have donated their time, treasures and talents this past year.  You rock! (thunderous applause)

Speaking of thunderous applause, the First Phase of the “Catch the Excitement” Drive, which included the Narthex floor and the Holland Hall floor and windows, is all done and paid for!  Thanks to all who contributed!  (Now on to phase 2…)

R&R Circle is (are?) meeting on Thursday, Dec 28th at 10am (Man, are those women dedicated!).  That’s about all that’s happening, as evidenced by the following:

Stuff That’s Not Happening List:

No Sunday School on Dec 25 or Jan 1
