This Week at Holy Trinity, January 20, 2017

Hi, Everyone:

This Sunday, January 22nd, is the third Sunday after Epiphany and Luther Loose Change Sunday.  Pastor Tim is still away this week for continuing education, so Carmen Blair will be Sermonizing and Children’s Timing.  Thank you Carmen for helping out, and thanks to all of you who volunteered as worship helpers last week (and week after week)!

Have some ideas for Social Concerns?  Kate Shonk would like to have a quick meeting after first service this Sunday to hear suggestions and to plan.  If you can’t make the meeting, please call or text Kate at (510) 552-3656 if you have suggestions for Causes of the Month or any other ideas for Social Concerns.

Next Friday, January 27th, is the fourth Friday of the month, which means it will be Movie Night!  Join us at 6:30 PM in the Activity Room for food, friends, and the movie “Suicide Squad” (PG-13).

We will be having the annual Souper Bowl of Caring on Super Bowl Sunday (February 5th). The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national youth movement to fight hunger locally. Our youth will be collecting money and food, 100% of which goes to feed the hungry in our community. We will also be having a Soup Potluck to feed the hungry right here at Holy Trinity. It will take place in Holland Hall between the two worship services.  The sign-up sheet for bringing soup is on the Media Table.

The annual Spaghetti Feed fundraiser is coming up more quickly than you think (or at least more quickly than I think – which was never that quick).  It’s scheduled for Saturday March 18th from 4 to 8pm.  It’s not too early to start getting together a cool basket of stuff to donate for the raffle, or maybe a gift card (especially if it’s a scrip card – that way we get even more benefit), or any other prizes you can think of (the pasta-bilities are endless!).  So mark the date on your calendar and get ready for an Italianesque good time.

Donna Lee is temporarily moving her name from the list for taking Prayer Chain requests to the list for receiving prayers as she goes in for open heart surgery.  Please direct any Prayer Chain requests to Briana Holland at or 510-793-5407.  Our prayers and best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery are with you, Donna!

See you in church!
