This Sunday, March 26th, is the fourth Sunday of Lent. It’s also Luther Loose Change Sunday. There will be a Nominating Committee Meeting at 10:15 am, and an RIC Meeting at 12:15 pm. If neither of those meetings appeal to you, there’s still the Council Meeting next week at 12:15 pm!
Tonight (Friday the 24th) is Movie Night. Join us in the Activity Room around 6:30 pm for food, fellowship, and a fun flick.
The Spaghetti Feed was an enormous success! Thanks to all who helped out and to all who came. We took in $6,816.37, which is $1,359.67 more than last year. Plus, we had a really great time! (except for that part when Pastor Tim drew the tickets for the two big raffle prizes and they went to his kids. Hmm… divine intervention?) If you donated a basket for the Spaghetti Feed raffle and would like a donation letter for tax purposes, Please email or call Terri MacFarlane: firstname.lastname@example.org or 510-651-5640
All are invited to the Daytimers’ Luncheon, which was postponed this month to this Tuesday, March 28 at 11:30 am. If you come to Bible Study at 10 am, you can be fed spiritually as well as physically!
Midweek Lenten Services continue on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm through April 5th. These are short half-hour meditative services featuring monologues from Bible characters on Jesus’ last words. This week Martha speaks on the word “Forsaken.” That’ll get you in the Lenten spirit!
In lieu of our usual Maundy Thursday service, Christ the King Lutheran Church will be hosting a Soup Potluck and Maundy Thursday Service for all of the local Lutheran churches – including HTLC! The potluck begins at 6 pm and the service begins at 7:15 pm on April 13. Come and worship with your fellow local Lutherans, and if you wish, bring your boast-worthiest soup.
Once again this year, we will have our Easter Garden in the narthex and sanctuary. Please sign up at the media table to bring a plant in honor or in memory of someone. PLEASE PRINT to help me spell names correctly in the bulletin (I’m not above making up silly stuff if your handwriting’s too bad!). You just purchase the plant – any size or color is welcome, and make sure it’s at the church by 10 am on Saturday, April 15. Let’s make it a riot of color!
The Seder Meal is on! Palm Sunday (April 9th) at 5 pm we will have a (mostly) traditional Seder Meal with all the trimmings and activities. Please sign up on the sheet on the Media Table so food amounts can be planned. Suggested donation: $15 for people 12 and up, $10 for people 5–11, and under 5, free. Come experience this fascinating amalgam of rituals and food!
Other events coming up: Church Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 8th at 9 am, Good Friday Service at 7 pm on April 14th, a CPR/AED class on April 22nd at 10 am (see Kate Shonk), and a Thrivent Financial Planning Event on April 23rd at 12:30 pm (don’t forget: Thrivent Choice Dollars expire next Friday!). Oh, and a little thing called Easter!
See you in church!
