This Sunday, May 28th, is the 7th Sunday of Easter and Luther Loose Change Sunday. Remember, we’ve started our single service at 10 am schedule for the summer. It’s also Memorial Day weekend, so as you barbecue, remember those who gave their lives for your freedom to burn large chunks of meat. (mmm, I’m salivating already – reverently, of course!) Next Sunday is Pentecost, so be sure to wear red!
Tonight (Friday the 26th) is Family Movie Night at 6:30 pm in the Activity Room. Who knows what the movie will be, but there’s bound to be good stuff to eat (especially if you bring some) and fun people to be with.
Thanks to all who participated in last week’s Annual Meeting. We voted to move the Annual Meeting to early in the year from now on. This means our newly-elected President, Carmen Blair, gets her sentence term reduced by several months. Bethany Stevenin is our new Vice President (and I can think of no one better to be president of vices), and the usual suspects return as Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Recording Secretary. Here is a list of our new council and their committee assignments:
- Carmen Blair – President
- Bethany Stevenin – Vice President
- Tammy Kuhlmann – Financial Secretary
- Cheryl Hall – Recording Secretary
- Terri MacFarlane – Treasurer
Council Members – Committee Assignments
- Dave Barron – Building/Grounds
- Andrew DiCero – Worship
- Steve Guerzon – Communications/Outreach
- Erik Holland – Social Concerns & Stewards of God’s Love
- Shawn Lullo – Youth & Family
- Kate Shonk – Mutual Ministry
- Dean Sieglaff – Finance & Endowment
- Bethany Stevenin – Hospitality
- Marta Wicke – Education
Thanks to all the council members for their willingness to serve.
The annual Holy Trinity Yard Sale is only a week away! (8 am to 2 pm, Saturday June 3rd) All hands on deck! Pricing, sorting, and organizing will take place May 30th through June 2nd and other volunteer opportunities will be available during the Yard Sale. Sign-up sheets are posted on the announcement board in the breezeway. I’m here 10-2 Tues-Fri if you need to drop things off in Holland Hall. Please don’t wait until Friday, though – it makes it more difficult for the sorters and pricers (and definitely DO NOT bring stuff the morning of the Yard Sale if you don’t want to be glared at!). Please call Erik Holland at 510-793-5407 or 408-394-3151 if assistance in picking up any larger items is needed.
The second RIC Informational Cottage Meeting takes place the next day on Sunday, June 4th at 11:15 am. It’ll have to be in the Activity Room due to all the leftover Yard Sale stuff in Holland Hall. Don’t miss the meeting to shop the leftovers – do it during the sermon before the good stuff is snatched up! (I’m joking, Pastor Tim, JOKING!). Learn about what it takes to be a welcoming congregation to the LGBTQ community, why a welcome statement is needed, and the next steps in the Reconciling in Christ process (and yes, it involves a congregational vote on the welcome statement). Sign-up sheets are on the Media Table for this meeting and the next one which is on June 25th.
See you in church!
