This Sunday is November 6th, 25th Sunday after Pentecost, Nacho Name Tag Sunday, and All Saints Sunday. Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour or you’ll be there an hour early! (If you do forget, feel free to make a donut run – I’ll take an apple fritter.) It is also the last Sunday to order books from the Reformation 500 Bookstore in the narthex. Don’t be the only one without a pithy Luther quip at the ready.
Family Game Night is tonight (Nov 4th) at 6:30 PM in the Activity Room. It’s always more fun with more people, so please come. There are games of all sorts and food a-plenty. You can bring your own food and games to share, but don’t feel obligated. We just want you there! By the way, a few months ago some of my games went missing from the game box (Quirkle, Snatch, and Uno Attack). They were Christmas gifts from my brother’s family, so If anyone knows what happened to them, I’d appreciate them back – no questions asked!
November’s Cause of the Month is Adopt an Angel. Please help us ensure that children in foster care have a wonderful Christmas by participating. Here’s what to do:
- Choose an Angel tag from the Giving Tree in the Narthex.
- Purchase the gift.
- Bring the gift UNWRAPPED and put it under the tree with the tag. Gift bags are not needed this year. Donations of wrapping paper are also appreciated.
- Gifts need to be under the tree by Sunday November 27th.
If you are unable to shop, you can give a gift card or donation to Tammy or Vicky Kuhlmann or Bethany Stevenin and they will shop for you.
Also, the Angel Tea will be on Saturday, December 3, 2015 at 11:30 AM, $35 per person, Limit 25 people. All proceeds go to purchase Christmas gifts for children who are in the care of Alameda County due to unsafe conditions in their homes. The tea is held at the home of Laurel Beebe, 35839 Hibiscus Ct., Fremont, CA 94536. Carpooling will be arranged once sign-ups are complete. Questions? Contact Cheryl Kuhlmann at 510-502-0890
On November 20th there will be a single service at 10:00 AM (just in case you missed the chance to come at the wrong time this Sunday) followed by a Thanksgiving Potluck. There is a sign-up sheet on the media table for those who would like to bring food. I assume we are free to deviate from traditional Thanksgiving fare since there is a space for “super-surprise mystery dish!”
See you in church!
