Hi, everyone: looks like it’s another long one…
This Sunday is November 20th, Christ the King Sunday, Thanksgiving Sunday, and Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. It is also a single service at 10:00 followed by a Thanksgiving Potluck in Holland Hall. Sunday School will be at 9:00am before the service. We will also be dedicating the refinished doors of Holland Hall after service (Patrick DiCero’s Eagle Scout Project; thank you, Patrick!).
Not much happening this coming week (well, besides Thanksgiving): no Adult Forum, nor Parenting Forum, nor Tuesday Bible Study, nor Women’s Bible study, nor Praise Band, Instrumental Group, or Choir rehearsals. (Although the bulletin insert still says there’s Praise Band and Choir rehearsal: really, that Choir Director needs to communicate better with that Parish Life Coordinator!)
There is, however, Family Movie Night on Friday 11/25 at 6:30pm in the Activity Room, so take that opportunity to relax after Black Friday shopping, enjoy a movie and some food, and take a deep breath before the next week. Yes, the weekend of Dec 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 2016 will go down in the annals of Holy Trinity as one of its most action-packed weekends:
Of course, there will be Family Game Night and potluck on Friday Dec 2nd at 6:30, it being the first Friday of the month (and because Daytimer’s Thanksgiving Potluck, Sunday’s Thanksgiving Potluck, actual Thanksgiving, and Family Movie Night just weren’t enough food opportunities!) But just wait until you see what’s happening the day after:
First on Dec 3rd, there is the Sunday School Christmas Program rehearsal from 9am to 12pm. There will also be rehearsals on Sunday 12/04 10am – 11 am, and Saturday 12/10 9am – 12pm. Please make sure to get your children to at least one of the Saturday rehearsals if they have a speaking role, and all performers should be at the church by 9:30am the Sunday of the Christmas Program (12/11 between services).
Next on Dec 3rd, there is a Holiday Boutique in Holland Hall 11am – 3pm put on by Relay for Life of Newark. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Fliers for this event are on the Media Table. If you have crafts to sell, you can get a form on the Community Events bulletin board above the Media Table.
Also on Dec 3rd is the Angel Tea at 11:30am at the home of Laurel Beebe, 35839 Hibiscus Ct., Fremont, CA 94536. It is $35 per person, (limit of 25 people) and sign-ups are on the Media Table. All proceeds go to purchase Christmas gifts for children who are in the care of Alameda County due to unsafe conditions in their homes (Adopt an Angel). Contact Cheryl Kuhlmann at 510-502-0890, if you have any questions.
Finally on Dec 3rd is Family Caroling Night. The plan is to meet at the church at 5:30pm, carol at some members’ houses and a nursing home, then return to church for tree decorating, cookies, and possibly a visit from a special guest with a fondness for red apparel! If you would like to help with cookies and such, please contact Marta Wicke.
Then, on Dec 4th is the An-Tea Party from 5pm to 8pm in Holland Hall. Similar to the Angel Tea, but more butch. Cost will be $35 per person with beer and wine for $5, and proceeds will also go to Adopt an Angel. Menu is either Cornish Game Hen or Salmon (that’s “butch”?), plus sides and dessert. Please sign up at the Media Table (maybe we should rename it the sign-up sheet table!) and choose which entrée you would prefer.
Whew! I’m only to the first weekend of December, and there’s so many more things to tell you about. But they aren’t coming up so quickly, so… next week (or read the bulletin insert this Sunday)!
See you in church!
