This Sunday is September 18th, 18th Sunday after Pentecost and Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. Strategic Planning Committee and Worship Committee will both have meetings at 12:15. If you want to go to both, you’ll just have to run back and forth really fast.
There will be a Church Clean-up Day on Saturday, Sept 24th starting at 9:00 AM. There will be tasks for various working abilities and food for various eating abilities. Meanwhile, at that very same time (9 AM to 1 PM) There will be Free Document Shredding sponsored by Thrivent at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Mowry Ave, Fremont. More details about this are available on the Media Table. Running back and forth between these two events will be much more difficult.
Tuesday Bible Study is back on Sept. 20th after summer hiatus, followed by the usual 3rd Tuesday Daytimers Potluck. Come at 10:00 AM for the Bible Study, stay for the potluck. Or just come by for the potluck at 11:30 AM. (I’ve done it, and I didn’t see any judgmental glances!)
Meg Ehmann would like to start a 6 week Women’s Bible Study in October and November. It’s called “The Longing in Me” and uses the story of King David along with author Sheila Walsh’s life to examine the things we hunger for (besides food), and how they stem from our hunger for God. If one of your longings is to satisfy your longings, be sure to sign up at the Media Table in the Narthex. Times and dates will be discussed once Meg knows there are enough interested to make a go of it.
Council has appointed three new Endowment Committee members: Eric Holland, Pamela Metcalf, & John Williams. Thank you for your willingness to serve in this important capacity. (the preceding sentence was in lieu of a tasteless joke – ask me about it!)
Patrick DiCero of Troop 269 has finished his Eagle Scout project of re-finishing the Holland Hall doors. Be sure to check out these things of beauty (the doors, not Patrick). Dedication of the doors will be coming soon. Thanks, Patrick!
Luther Loose Change Sunday funds will now be designated for Sunday School supplies, so be sure to buy lots of stuff that’s oddly priced this week so you’ll have plenty of change next Sunday. It’s for the kids!
We only have $3,470 left to go to meet our phase 1 goal of the Catch the Excitement drive. Let’s see if we can finish that off by the end of the calendar year so that we can get started on more projects! Excitingly yellow donation envelopes are available on the Media Table and in the pews.
The latest editions of the Devotional Booklets “The Word in Season” and “Christ in Our Home” are now available on the Media Table, for you devoted fans.
And if you’ve read this far, you’re excused from reading the bulletin insert on Sunday!
Peace and Blessings,
