Hi, Everyone:

This Sunday, February 24th, is the 7th Sunday of Epiphany and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday – any spare change, no matter how spare, helps us get closer to a new audio-visual-non-circuit-tripping upgrade.  And, of course, it’s Bold Women’s Day!  You’ll hear about bold women of faith from some of our own bold women of faith (I’m still waiting for bald Norwegian Day).  There will also be a Stewardship Meeting (excuse me – ‘Stewards of God’s Love” meeting) at 12:15 pm after the second service.

The Spaghetti Feed is coming up in just four weeks on Saturday, March 23rd from 4 pm to 6 pm.  Briana Holland is looking for donations of gift cards and themed baskets for the Spaghetti Feed raffle and prizes for the silent auction.  If you want to donate gift cards, consider using our scrip program so HTLC gets a percentage of the card’s value.  Tickets will be for sale soon, and fliers will be in the narthex this Sunday (assuming the copier doesn’t break down again between now and Sunday) for you to hand out to friends (or perfect strangers), post in public places (like your favorite coffee shop – with permission, of course), or frame and hang as art in your living room!

Lent is fast approaching!  Our Ash Wednesday Service will be on March 6th at 7 pm.  On the following Wednesdays throughout Lent we will have our meditative half-hour Midweek Lenten Services at 6:30 pm.  These include calming Taize music and short dramatic readings.  Other local Lutheran churches will be participating, making these services even more special.

Attention all Thrivent Financial members!  Those of you who have Choice Dollars available have until March 31, 2019, to direct any remaining 2018 Choice Dollars (hopefully in HTLC’s direction) before they expire.  Go to to learn more. Or call 800-847-4836 and say “Thrivent Choice” after the prompt.  Also, Thrivent Action Teams are a way for us to receive funding (and those oh-so-comfy t-shirts!) from Thrivent for a specific cause for the church. Find out how they work by visiting or talk to Briana Holland or Pastor Tim and they can help you get started.

The Giving Tree

The 2019 Stewardship program continues to grow and blossom with 29 leaves now on the Giving Tree.  These represent the 29 forms that have been turned in.  Did you forget to turn in your form, think of something that you would like to add, or found all of Erik’s previous instructions confusing? Don’t worry.  You can still turn in a form, complete an additional form, or get questions answered so you can then complete a form.  It is not too late.  The Giving Tree is only beginning to blossom and spring hasn’t really sprung.  Let’s pack that tree with leaves of generosity! (Sorry about all those tree puns last week – I was just trying to spruce things up!)

See you in church!
