This Sunday, January 13th, is the 2nd Sunday of Epiphany and Scrip Sunday. It’s also the feast day (love that term!) called The Baptism of Our Lord. This is the Sunday when Christ is revealed at his baptism with (spoiler alert!) the Holy Spirit appearing (in dove form) and a voice coming from heaven. Also this Sunday there will be a Council Meeting at 12:15 in the Activity Room, where a voice from heaven will command them to keep the Annual Meeting short (or maybe that voice is coming from the church office). Next week, Jesus is revealed through his first miracle. Don’t miss it!
There is no Game Night tonight for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I had Jury Duty this week and am waaay behind (it took them three days to decide they didn’t want me!). Secondly, attendance has been pretty low (as in sometimes it’s just Richard and me), so the new year seems to be a good time to give Game Night a rest for a while. Maybe there’s something else we can do that will be more popular. You can start a new activity that you’re interested in!
The Daytimers’ Luncheon, which normally occurs on the third Tuesday of the month, will be moved out a week this month to Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:30 am. All are welcome to this potluck event, and you don’t even need to bring anything (I don’t, and Daytimers’ Luncheons are my feast days!).
The long awaited, often doubted, and highly anticipated Stewardship 2019 campaign has arrived. The Stewardship cards will be available in the back of the sanctuary and can be returned either in the offering plate, in the Erik Holland/Stewardship mailbox at the back of the church, or directly to Erik Holland. Anyone interested in completing a form is encouraged to do so. Each family, church member, pet, etc. is welcome to fill out a form. This can be one form for everyone or multiple forms if anyone would like to complete their own. Updates on the program will be delivered in the following weeks before the Giving Tree is revealed in its full glory at the Annual Meeting on February 10th.
See you in church!
