This Sunday, June 16, is not only Fill the Food Barrel Sunday, but it is also Holy Trinity Sunday, when we celebrate the mysterious three-in-one nature of our triune God. It is a tradition with some churches to recite the Athanasian Creed on this Sunday, which attempts to describe the Trinity in painful detail, but we won’t, because we want to have time for the Father’s Day Barbecue! Yes, at about 11 am after the service we will be pigging out (or cowing out, depending upon your preference) in honor of those who are dads or are dadesque. I hear Randy and Terri will have competing coleslaws in a head-to-head contest! (Get it? Coleslaw – cabbage – head-to-head?). By the way, if you really want to read the Athanasian Creed for yourself, click here – but my advice is to take a couple of Excedrin first.
Break with tradition and actually read the insert this Sunday – it contains a list of our graduates! Be sure to congratulate them when you see them. We are all so proud!
Stewardship Spotlight: The summer heat will not slow down the Stewardship Spotlight as it continues to recognize all of the incredible gifts shared in the community and at HTLC. This week we would like to recognize Donna Lee for everything that she does. Donna has played a main role for many years in connecting all of our friends/family with HTLC by getting the word out on events in these peoples’ lives so they could be included in our HTLC Prayer Chain. Within our HTLC community, she enjoys hosting weekday bible study, being a part of Altar Guild, being a communion assistant, making contributions to the food barrel, and embroidering baptismal cloths. Thank you Donna for all that you do!
Vacation Bible School is looming! It starts June 24th. Registration forms are on the Media Table and downloadable online at our website (holytrinityfremont.org) or by clicking here. Be sure to tell your friends with kids and take some flyers from the Media Table to distribute and post as well. Terri MacFarlane (email@example.com, 510-402-9161) is looking for volunteers (especially youth) to help make sure everyone has a roaring good time!
Hymn Request Forms are still available on the Media Table for the Favorite Hymn Sundays starting mid-July. Don’t let the summer go by without that old chestnut “Savior, Sprinkle Many Nations” (SBH #312)!
See you in church!
