This email blast will have to last you for a while, as I will be on vacation from Thursday, June 27 through Friday, July 12. You will be safe to read your email without threat of puns! This also means there will be no regular office hours during that time, but Pastor Tim and others are around at various times, so just call to make sure someone is there to help you before you come on over.
This Sunday, June 23, is the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost, or more appropriately, Penny-cost since it’s Luther Loose Change Sunday. Remember, every penny helps defray the cost of our Audio-Visual-Electrical upgrade, or as I call it, “AVE” (as in “Ave Maria, now I hear and see ya!”).
Do you hear the approaching sounds of wild animals and children (often one and the same)? That means Vacation Bible School starts in three days. THREE DAYS! Monday through Friday, June 24 through 28, 6 pm to 8 pm, our free safari-themed VBS called “ROAR!” takes over the entire Holy Trinity campus. I’m sure Terri MacFarlane (firstname.lastname@example.org, 510-402-9161) will be appreciative of any and all help setting up for it and throughout the week. She is especially looking for youth volunteers. Flyers and registration forms are available on the Media Table, and downloadable registration forms are available by clicking here. Get ready to hear all about what went on throughout the week on VBS Sunday, June 30. I’m sure they’ll have some cutely-named meal after the service.
I got this lovely email from Bernie and Muriel Teague to everyone:
“Muriel and I wish to express our appreciation to the congregation of Holy Trinity Church for the sendoff you gave us on our last day at Holy Trinity. The potluck lunch was great and we send our thanks to Randy, Terri and all those who furnished the food and labor put into this sendoff. Thank you Keith, Leilani and the choir for the music performed for our exit. A special thanks to Pastor Tim for his friendship and leadership for the years at Holy Trinity. We will miss everyone and will try to keep in touch with you through email. – Bernie and Muriel Teague”
I think I can speak for us all: We miss you, too!
Stewardship Spotlight: The Stewardship Spotlight is going to take a short break while the author (Erik) and HTLC Parish Life Coordinator enjoy time away during the summer. Don’t worry, it will return with plenty of new jokes at PT’s expense. Please use this time to observe and appreciate all of the Stewardship that you see going on in the community and at HTLC. All of these actions do make a difference and help us be beautiful Christians. Stewardship forms are still available in the narthex if you have not completed one yet and would like to be included.
Hymn Request Forms will be available on the Media Table until the end of the month for the Favorite Hymn Sundays starting in mid-July. Just fill it out and put it in Carmen’s box. Having trouble picking a hymn or praise song? The book which the Hymn Selection Committee uses to help them pick hymns keeps recommending “Come, Ye Disconsolate” (ELW #607). Maybe they get royalties from it.
See you in church! (this Sunday, at least)
