Hi, Everyone: It’s a long one, so grab a cup of coffee (or beverage of your choice)…
First of all, the Spaghetti Feed is TOMORROW (March 23)! Set-up starts around 10 am (or earlier if you don’t have to go into Holland Hall – we have an outside group meeting there). The event itself runs from 4 pm to 8 pm, with clean-up afterward. Those who are donating raffle baskets, gift cards, desserts, etc. please bring them by Saturday noonish so we have time to organize and set them up. It’s one of our major fundraising events, but it’s also tons of fun (and delicious)! So tell everyone you know. Tickets are $15 Adult, $12 Seniors, $10 Kids under 12, $45 Family of 4. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the George Mark Children’s House (check ‘em out at www.georgemark.org), the rest goes to Holy Trinity. There’ll be all-you-can-eat food and desserts, beer & wine (extra “donation”), silent auction, raffle prizes, and a kid’s zone. It all adds up to an abbondanza of fun!
This Sunday, March 24, is the 3rd Sunday of Lent, and Luther Loose Change Sunday. This Lenten season, we wanted to bring new life to the Loose Change offering and get the kids involved as well. The children will help with the collection on Luther Loose Change Sundays using metal buckets so that we can celebrate the sound of our giving. Our loose change is going to fund our audio-video-electrical upgrade, so remember “When a coin in the bucket rings, another outlet from the wall springs!”
Once again this year, we will have our Easter Garden in the sanctuary on Easter Sunday. You can sign up at the Media Table to bring a plant in honor or in memory of someone. Please print legibly to help ensure correct spelling in the bulletin. Just purchase the plant – any kind, size or color is welcome (we are an inclusive church!) and make sure it’s at the church by 10 am on Saturday, April 20th Pairs of plants are especially nice for symmetry’s sake.
There’s a new and exciting way to give at Holy Trinity! It’s called Give+ from Vanco (the same people that we use for the Simply Giving program). This is a phone or tablet based application for both Apple and Android systems. It is safe and free for you to use and a great way to instantly give to Holy Trinity! We can add additional categories as desired…Give it a try!!
- Go to the Play Store (Android) or Apple Store (Apple)
- Search for Give+ application, Select and Install
- Enter Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Fremont and select
- Set-up your checking/savings (you’ll need your bank routing & account number), credit/debit card or both
- Select the account (General, Catch the Excitement 2, etc…) and enter amount you’d like to give
- You can have this be a recurring event or one time
- You choose the date it will fund the church
- Select next and you will receive a receipt plus an email record of your donation
If you use a credit or debit card, there will be a prompt asking if you would like to help offset the cost of credit/debit card processing.
Stewardship Update: The Giving Tree will be on display during the Spaghetti Feed and now has over 80 leaves! Please be sure to tell Spaghetti Feed guests about the Giving Tree and that all of the leaves represent the gifts we share as beautiful Christians to support our communities and HTLC. This week the Stewardship spotlight is on Jennifer Roper. In the community, Jennifer enjoys assisting with art and music programs at her children’s school while also acting as a Girl Scout Troop leader. For HTLC, she has gotten involved by working with the Sunday School, leading various youth art projects, singing Christmas carols, and helping stuff backpacks for Abode.
Midweek Lenten Services continue this Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Relax to the calming music, listen to the thoughts of a “Voices of Lent” character (this week: Nicodemus, the Pharisee), and pound a nail into the cross to remember your sins. It’s a very evocative series of half-hour services you don’t want to miss!
In these news emails, I generally only let you know what’s going on here at Holy Trinity. If you’re an ELCA junkie and want to know what’s going on with the church at a larger level, sign up for the Sierra Pacific Synod newsletter. Go to http://spselca.org/, scroll to the bottom of the page, and you’ll find a place to enter your email and subscribe. Learn about all the happenings of the ELCA on a regional basis.
See you in church and at the Spaghetti Feed!
