Hi, Everyone.  Happy post-Thanksgiving lethargy!

This Sunday, November 25th, is Christ the King Sunday – the last Sunday of the church year.  Surprise your loved ones by setting all the alarms for midnight this Sunday so you can ring in Advent.  They’ll love you for it!  It’s also Lutheran Loose Change Sunday.  There will be a Nominating Committee Meeting between the services in the narthex, so all you first service people be sure you leave by the back door or risk ending up on Council.  This Sunday is also the last day to get your Angel Tree gifts under the tree.  Better to brave the Black Friday weekend crowds than incur Cheryl Kuhlmann’s wrath!  There is no Sunday School, Adult Forum or Pageant Rehearsal this Sunday.

There will also be no Family Movie Night tonight, but you couldn’t have eaten anything after yesterday, anyway.

Next Saturday, Dec. 1st, There will be a Christmas Pageant rehearsal from 2 pm to 4 pm.  Then, Come join us for joint multi-generational Advent Activities to kick off the Advent season. Feel free to join one or all activities. Carpools will be coordinated from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church after pageant practice.

  • 4 pm – wreath making, crafts and dinner at Christ the King (1301 Mowry Ave, Fremont)
  • 6 pm – Caroling at Carlton (3800 Walnut Ave, Fremont); no experience necessary, the more voices the better; songbooks will be provided.
  • 7 pm – cookies and cocoa at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (38801 Blacow Rd, Fremont)

There will also be the Hanging of the Greens at 6 pm on Dec 1st for those who aren’t going caroling.  This is when we make the sanctuary all pretty for the Advent season.  Please sign up to help at the Media Table.

Relay for Life of Newark will be having a Holiday Boutique here in Holland Hall on Saturday, Dec 1st from 11 am to 3 pm. A portion of the proceeds will be going to the American Cancer Society.

Be sure to sign up for the Angel Tea – space and time are running out!  (No, the space-time continuum isn’t running out – that happens when the universe ends.  You just get fat at the Angel Tea.)

There are many more special events and services coming up, but I’ll wait until next week to inundate you with those.  Please refer to last week’s email or bulletin insert for Sunday School and Pageant Rehearsal Schedules (or go to and click on the “News and Events” tab to see past emails, if you haven’t been saving them for posterity).

See you in church!
