Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, August 9, is the 10th Sunday after Pentecost and Scrip Sunday. Pastor Tim is back! (well, virtually) Tune in to see if he’s covered in “Greige” and “Swiss Coffee” paint from painting his house. We’ll be having both Zoom Communion (9:45 am) and Zoom Coffee Chat (10 am) this Sunday. Details are included in the attached PDF file. Remember to have your bread and wine or grape juice ready for Communion. It’s BYOB&B (bring your own body and blood).
We have several teachers in our congregation who will be dealing with teaching at-home students this fall, some of whom will not have the resources others do. Our Cause of the Month for August is Distance Learning School Supplies for our teachers from Holy Trinity. So far, we’ve only received a list of needed supplies from Debbie Huff, who teaches at Durham Elementary:
- Crayola Crayons (classic colors – 16 or 24 count)
- Elmer’s Glue Sticks (purple 0.77oz)
- #2 Pencils
- Wide-tip Expo Markers (for white boards) – Black
- Markers (classic colors)
- Kid’s Scissors
Of course, donations of money and gift cards (it’s Scrip Sunday!) would also be welcome. Be sure to designate such donations as being for the Cause of the Month. The kinder-teachers at Durham and their students thank you! (that’s “kĭnder” as in “kindergarten” not kīnder as in “much nicer than the other teachers”). I’m at church during normal office hours most days (M-F, 10-2) if you need to drop off donations (that whole self-discipline thing of working at home wasn’t really panning out for me!).
The 2020 Virtual Spaghetti Feed is quickly approaching (Aug. 29) and we hope that all of you plan on participating. As a reminder, meal tickets are $15 per person and include spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and dessert. The Spaghetti Feed Committee is excited to announce that each meal ticket purchased qualifies for a raffle ticket to win a pair of AirBuds!! Pastor Tim will also be on hand so that all exiting cars will have the opportunity to visit with him and say hello (the cost to share your thoughts on the length of video sermons is included in the meal ticket!) We do request that food orders are placed as soon as possible so the food team can begin to prepare. Payment for tickets can be done electronically via Give+ or Give+ Text (http://holytrinityfremont.org/get-involved/support/) or mailed to HTLC with a note of what the check is for. You are also asked to send a short note to plc@xti.xrd.mybluehost.me of payment amount and description of order so we can confirm all information.
And finally, Art and Cheryl Kuhlmann announce the birth of their 11th grandchild: Amelia Daisy Goldie Jones was bornon July 22nd to Moira and Brady. Congratulations! And here is a picture of the little darling. All together, now: “Awwww!”
