Devotions from Tri-City ELCA Pastors – Vicar Anand of Good Shepherd South Asian Ministries, October 15, 2020

Vicar Anand’s Devotion for October 15, 2020:

Today’s Word of God for our morning devotion with “The Holy Spirit & Prayers “ is taken from

Matthew 6:8–13 which says ;

“So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

“Pray then, in this way:

‘Our Father who is in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

‘Your kingdom come.

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

‘Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

Lord Jesus condemned the prayers in streets by Pharisees and seduces who use to impress the innocent people and to misguide them for their self motives. He said in Verse 5, “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. Prayers have their own system and principality and we need to know how to offer them. Prayers can not be done for gaining or to do harm to others. In prayer many people ask God to curse others who made them suffer for no reason. Jesus said such prayers will never be answered. The right method of offering prayer is to pour out our hearts to God and seek His blessings upon others. Prayers can not be done with selfish mind and self gaining.

Our Father knows what we need before we ask Him and this will happen and we witnessed when we know the value of the prayer and when we pray for the betterment of others.

Jesus asked His disciples to pray a very unique and special prayer which will give abundant fruit of life in Him. He asked to pray in this way. The Heavenly Father ‘s name has to be Hallowed. Our prime duty in prayer is to glorify God as He is Holy God. Our desire in prayer should be asking, His Kingdom to come where there is no further suffering. Let God’s Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Those who do prayers their look will be always above. They think of heavenly matters throughout the day.

The prayerful person pray for the daily bread which is symbolic to God’s Word and you will have to eat all the times of the day.

Unless you forgive your debtors in your prayerful life, God will not forgive your debts. If you want your prayers to be answered, you will have to do this whenever the situation arise.

The power of prayer will not allow you to fall in temptation. If Satan tries to make you fall, God will deliver you from that. God will keep you Holy if you follow His instructions and pray as it’s shown in above verses.

The prayer always make you realize the Kingdom and the power and the glory belongs to God . There fore if you pray with above words wholeheartedly God will always take care of your life and give you unfaded Crown of Glory.

We as believers must know the value of the prayers and must achieve our goal before leaving this world.

May God help us to pray like in today’s Word for the achievement of successful life in spiritual Christendom in Jesus name. Amen !!
