Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, January 31, is the 4th Sunday after Epiphany and, since it’s the last Sunday in January, RIC (Reconciling in Christ) Sunday. RIC is a program which helps congregations learn to fully welcome those in the LGBTQIA+ community. We’ll be having special liturgies, prayers, and a reading of our Welcome Statement to celebrate our commitment to welcoming all – including LGBTQIA+ people (like me!). For Adult Forum (10 a.m.), we will be having another video and discussion focused on Allyship and LGTBQIA+ issues, to recognize RIC Sunday. Please join us as we continue to learn and grow. Unfortunately, Pastor Tim has a case (not dire) of COVID-19 along with Jacob. Debbie and Rachel have tested negative. This means there’ll be no Confirmation Class and no Communion. As a result, Coffee Chat will move to 9:30 a.m. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m. as usual, and we’ll have an online worship service ready for Sunday, just without Pastor Tim. The Huff family is thankful for your thoughts and prayers.
Next Sunday (February 7th) is Super Bowl Sunday (not an officially recognized church feast day – yet) and we are again participating in the annual Souper Bowl of Caring – a nationwide event to support local food charities. Of course, it won’t be the same this year without the kids with soup pots at the doors (unless that’s a regular occurrence in your neighborhood). One caveat for this week, though: I would call the church first to see if anyone is there before you come by to drop off any donations. I may be working from home this week depending on my own COVID test results. And I’m positive Pastor Tim won’t be there (I probably shouldn’t use the phrase “I’m positive” right now).
Ash Wednesday is on February 17 this year and yes, we will be having a worship service. Details will be forthcoming.
Also, I’ll remind you again of our Virtual Annual Meeting at noon on February 21 (you knew you’d be suffering during Lent!). Details will also be forthcoming.
