Hi, Everybody, sorry this is so late – just one of those weeks!
This Sunday (tomorrow!) is the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, Scrip Sunday, and Rally Day! Yes, it’s time to kick off this year’s Christian Education with a Drive-in Rally Day Celebration that takes place at 11 am (after outdoor worship service) that includes a blessing of backpacks and briefcases (remember to bring yours!), bags with Sunday School supplies and treats for the kids, and a car parade around the neighborhood. So, decorate your cars and get ready for fun! The rest of the day’s schedule is as usual with Zoom Coffee Chat at 9:15 am, Zoom Communion at 9:30 am, Outdoor Worship Service at 10 am, and a pre-recorded Online Worship Service available.
Next Sunday, September 19, Zoom Sunday School will start in earnest online at a new time: 9 am. If you’re child hasn’t attended in the past and you’re interested in receiving the Sunday School emails and Zoom information, please contact Marta Wicke.
Coming up on October 3rd is our annual Live Blessing of the Animals. And by “Live” I mean live by Zoom! Like last year, you will have an opportunity for your pets to receive a virtual blessing in the comfort of your own home! Details on how to sign up will be coming as we get nearer the date.
Don’t forget to download the new Vanco Mobile Faith Engagement phone app that is replacing their GivePlus app we use for mobile phone donations. Vanco will be retiring GivePlus after September 30. You can download the Vanco Mobile app for free from the App Store or Google Play. From there, after choosing our church (be sure to choose the Holy Trinity on Blacow Road in Fremont!), you can make a one-time donation or set up recurring giving right through the app. Just select your fund and amount, enter a payment method, and complete the donation. If you have questions or need assistance with the new mobile app, please stop by the church office or call us at 510-793-6285. You can also contact our Treasurer Terri MacFarlane.
One more reminder: the Christmas Pageant this year will be an online phenomenon! Kathleen has written a new script, & would like to include music this year, so things need to happen earlier than usual to allow for editing. The schedule tentatively looks like this, but Kathleen has been offered rehearsal time during Sunday school, and she is willing to do that instead of Saturday rehearsals if it’s more convenient. (let her know if any of these dates won’t work):
- September 26th — sing-along videos & script sent out
- October 23rd — first rehearsal, sing-along videos due
- October 30th — second rehearsal
- November 6th — official run through
- December 12th — broadcast of video
If your children would like to participate, please contact Kathleen Keating; she needs to know how many are interested and what roles they might like to take on Parts will be assigned according to desired role & the amount of speaking the kids are willing/able to do.
