Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, October 17, is the 21st Sunday after Pentecost, Fill the Food Barrel Sunday, and Children’s Sabbath! It’s the 30th annual observance of the multi-faith Children’s Sabbath weekend, which engages places of worship across the country in focusing prayers, worship, education programs, and action to improve the lives of children. There will be no Sunday School (I guess that’s appropriate), but the rest of the Sunday schedule is as usual.
Here’s the Sunday School schedule for the next few weeks:
· 10/17: No Sunday school
· 10/24: 9am: Christmas Pageant rehearsal
· 10/31: 9am: Christmas Pageant rehearsal (Wear Halloween costumes if you’d like!)
· 11/07: 9am: Christmas Pageant recording
· 11/14: 9am: regular Sunday school
(on the 10/31 rehearsal, I’m envisioning a Jack Skellington shepherd with an extra crooked staff)
The Jesus and Justice Collective, a Christian group dealing with racial injustices, is meeting this Sunday, Oct. 17, at 1 pm at South Bay Community Church in Fremont. They will have lunch and a movie with a guided discussion until 3.30 pm. If you plan to attend, please contact Pastor Tia Pelz of Christ the King Lutheran Church: ctkfremont@sbcglobal.net (510) 797-3724.
Cheryl Kuhlmann has informed me there are a couple of corrections for last week’s Adopt an Angel announcement. The deadline to get the gift cards to her is actually December 2nd, and they specifically are asking for $25 Target, Walmart, Amazon or Visa gift cards. Purchase them through our scrip program, and not only do the foster kids get a great gift, but Holy Trinity also gets a cut! (nothing says “Christmas” like a 2% kickback!) See Cheryl Kuhlmann or this week’s insert or last week’s email for more details. Or just wait until I say it all over again – you know it’s gonna happen.
Don’t forget to send us your All Saints Sunday names and photos. All Saints Sunday is coming up on Nov. 7, and we’d like to honor those who have passed that were saints to you in your life. Please email the names of the people you would like included in the bulletin and in our online service to Keith at plc@xti.xrd.mybluehost.me. If you would like to contribute a picture of your saint to be shown in the online video service, please email digital versions to Carmen Blair (remember everybody in the world will be able to see these pictures – be sure it is OK to share it). If you would like to use a picture submitted in past years, please also let Carmen know.
Audio-Visual Helpers Needed! We are looking forward to the day when we will be together inside the sanctuary and live-streaming our services. Before that time comes, we will need to have people trained and ready to run the soundboard, cameras, and streaming software. If this sounds interesting to you, please let Keith or Carmen know. We will probably need three people per service, so the more people we have trained, the better. No experience required, and you can’t sit any further back in the church than our newly-built-by-Arnold AV booth!
