Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, May 29, we are celebrating Ascension Sunday (Ascension Day proper was actually yesterday).  Jesus ends his 40-day limited engagement of appearances on earth and ascends to heaven on a cloud.  Cool!  Sunday School and Confirmation Classes have ended, and it’s the fifth Sunday of the month, so nothing else is going on but the 10 am Worship Service (in-person and livestreaming).  Church is easy this weekend!  Lots of stuff coming up, though:

VBS is coming in two weeks! (Yikes!)  This year, Vacation Bible School is a one-day affair on June 11, 9am – 3pm.  The farm-based theme is “HayDay – Growing in Friendship with Jesus.”  It’s for children ages 4-14.  Lunch is provided (probably not in a trough).  If you’re interested in joining VBS, please contact Marta Wicke (martawicke@gmail.com).

We would like to honor all of this year’s graduates in an upcoming insert.  This includes all of those graduating from High School, College, University, Advance Degree, and Certificate Programs.  We do not want to leave anyone out!  If you or someone you know is graduating this year, please fill out one of the green forms located on the Media Table in the narthex and put it in my box by June 12.  Or you can email the details to me at plc@xti.xrd.mybluehost.me.

Father’s Day Barbecue!  Father’s Day is on June 19, and we will be having a barbecue in honor of all fatherly-types!  It will be at 11am following the Worship Service.  Please sign up on the clipboard at the Media Table so Hospitality can know how many to plan for (he said, fearlessly flaunting his ending preposition).

Next Sunday, June 5, we’ll be celebrating the Day of Pentecost.  It’s considered the birthday of the church, and it’s traditional to wear red.  So, don those crimson clothes! (maybe a fuchsia so bright, you gotta wear shades?)

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, everybody.  And please set aside some time to remember those who have given their lives for our country.

– Keith
