Hi, Everybody:
The Christmas Pageant preparations are in full swing with another rehearsal tomorrow, Saturday November 19, from 10 am to noon. The kids from Holy Redeemer and Holy Trinity will be here working hard to get ready for the performance during worship service on December 11 at Holy Trinity. The final rehearsal will be on Sunday, December 4 after Sunday school here at HTLC. It’s a Kathleen Keating original, so it should be fun for all!
This Sunday, November 20, is Christ the King/Thanksgiving Sunday. There will be a Thanksgiving Potluck in Holland Hall following the 10 am worship service. And if you missed out on last Saturday’s craft boutique, we’ll have a table set up for you to see (and buy) the things our people crafted that didn’t sell (Thanksgiving leftovers!). It’s also Fill the Food Barrel Sunday, so if you’re not bringing something for the potluck, at least bring something non-perishable for the homeless (or both!). Because of the potluck, there will be no Sunday School or Confirmation Class.
What with potlucks, holidays, and pageants (oh my!), the Sunday School/Confirmation Class schedule can be a bit confusing. Here’s what’s happening the rest of the year:
11/20 – No Sunday School (potluck)
11/27 – No Sunday School (holiday weekend)
12/04 – Sunday School with HRLC here at HTLC
12/11 – No Sunday School (Christmas pageant)
12/18 – Sunday School
After that, no Sunday School until January 22, 2023.
Speaking of holidays, there will be no Tuesday Bible Study this coming week, and the office will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving weekend. Here’s the rest of the Tuesday Bible Study schedule for this year:
11/29 – Bible Study
12/06 – Bible Study
After that, no Bible Study until January 10, 2023.
There are still plenty of tags on the Angel Tree for foster kid gifts. Remember, the gifts have to be under the tree by next Sunday, November 27! Contact Cheryl Kuhlmann if you have questions (510-502-0890).
The Students of our organist Myrna will be having a Piano Recital on Saturday, December 10, at 4 pm, and we’re all invited! Come, hear some lovely music, and show support. Plus, there will be a reception afterwards!
Christmas Eve services will be at 4 pm and 8 pm this year, in-person and livestreaming. Christmas Day (it’s on a Sunday) we will have a Service of Poems and Carols at 10 am, followed by a Christmas Brunch (because you just won’t have eaten enough this season!).
By the way, a ring was found at church. If it’s yours, describe it to me, and I’ll give it back to you. (no fair guessing!).
