HTLC/HRLC News Email, March 3, 2023

Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, March 5, is the 2nd Sunday in Lent and Nacho Name Tag Sunday (with actual nachos this time!).  Zoom Coffee Chat will be at 9:15, Worship Service will be at 10 am, and Sunday School/Confirmation will be at 11:15 am.  As usual, links to the livestream of Sunday’s worship and Zoom Coffee Chat will come in an email Saturday or early Sunday (depending on just how long I manage to procrastinate).  If you ever wondered what the heck those “John 3:16” signs are at sporting events, but were too lazy to look it up, this would be a good week to pay attention to the choir anthem!

Wednesday, March 8, at 6:30 pm, we’ll have the second of our joint half-hour Midweek Lenten Services.  Holy Trinity, Christ the King, and Holy Redeemer are taking turns with the readings and a series of short monologues and dialogues by Kathleen Keating called Even the Least of These.  This week, it’s HTLC’s turn again (we’re getting ours out of the way early!) with the drama “Bread of Life Is?”.  Choir Rehearsal will be at 7 pm, and Praise Band Rehearsal will be at 7:45 pm.

After last Sunday’s Annual Meeting, the HTLC Council met and elected officers.  The new Council President is Ann Harren, and the new Council Vice President is Roy Heaivilin.  A list of committee liaisons will be forthcoming.  Here is a list of this year’s HTLC Council:

Executive Committee:

  • President – Ann Harren
  • Vice President – Roy Heaivilin
  • Financial Secretary – Erik Holland
  • Treasurer – Terri MacFarlane
  • Recording Secretary – Marta Wicke

Council Members:

  • Rene Bierbaum
  • Mike Billmann
  • Randy Kuhlmann
  • Kellie Smith
  • Bethany Stevenin

Next Sunday there will be an HTLC Council Meeting at noon.  Contact Marta Wicke (martawicke@gmail.com) if you would like to attend by Zoom and heckle the new council members.

You are invited to the Jesus and Justice Collective’s “Active Allyship” Event on March 19 at 2 pm.  They will provide effective techniques for minimizing the “Bystander Effect” and safely intervening to support people being harassed.  The event will take place at Cedars Church, 38325 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560.  Click here to register and learn more.
