Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, April 23, is the 3rd Sunday of Easter and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday. The schedule is as usual, with Worship at 10 am and Sunday School and Confirmation Class at 11:15 am. That is all.
The Sunday School raised over $470 during the Bake Sale last month. They voted to use the funds for a Fish Farm, Community Garden and Chicks for a community in need through ELCA Good Gifts. Way to go, kids! The donation will be in honor of Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, as well as Pastors Tim, Barbara and Hayward. Thank you for supporting them in this work (personally, I find giving to be much more pleasant if a chocolate chip cookie is involved!).
On the first Sunday in May, the Tongan Wesleyan Church traditionally celebrates White Sunday, when children and families are honored. We are planning to celebrate it with them, and I will be learning more about it next week. Just giving you a heads-up in case you have no white clothes in your wardrobe (yes, it is traditional to wear white, and no, I don’t know how to get nacho sauce stains out of white clothes).
Mother’s Day is also coming up on May 14, and Hospitality is rumored to be planning something food-related (specific enough for you?). I’ll let you know more once I know more.
Is it too early to start thinking about the next Spaghetti Feed? Of course not! It’s slated for Saturday, June 24. So, save the date and be on the lookout for announcements concerning planning meetings, volunteer opportunities, and tickets. It’s one of our biggest fundraising events and usually includes great food, raffles, silent auction, kids’ activities, and stereotypical Italian music (at least, it’s typical of our stereo!). Future fun for all!
There you have it: not much happening this week, but plenty of stuff coming up that I know little about. I’m glad I can be so informative!
