HTLC/HRLC News Email, January 5, 2023

Hi, Everybody.  Happy Twelfth Night, the last day of Christmas, or Epiphany Eve!  Have some wassail and king cake and take down your Christmas decorations (if you haven’t already).  Tomorrow, January 6, is Epiphany, when we celebrate the wise men finding and worshiping Jesus.

This Sunday, January 7, we’ll be celebrating Epiphany a day late by lighting candles, turning out the Christmas tree lights, and carrying our individual lights into the world at the end of the service (and feasting on nachos – not normally a tradition, but it is Nacho Name Tag Sunday).  There is no Sunday School, Confirmation, or Bell Choir Rehearsal, but the Psalms Bible Study will be resuming this Sunday.

So, when are the other groups currently on hiatus starting up again?  The first Praise Band rehearsal is on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:30 pm.  Sunday School and Confirmation as well as Bell Choir will resume on January 14.  Choir and Instrumental Group will resume rehearsing on January 17.  Tuesday Bible Study will resume on January 23.

Apparently, ’tis the season for congregational meetings!  Holy Redeemer is planning to have the HRLC Congregational Meeting about their budget on January 21 after the worship service.  Holy Trinity will have the HTLC Annual Congregational Meeting on February 25 after worship.  There will also be an HTLC Council Meeting next Sunday,  January 14, after the worship service.  I guess the lesson is, if you don’t like meetings, don’t stick around after church (unless there’s food, of course!).

Guess it must be time for me to stop – the lens just popped out of my glasses and fell on the floor.  I’m typing now with one eye shut!  (no, I’m not winking at you!)
