Hi, Everybody, and Happy Syttende Mai! (Norwegian Constitution Day – have some krumkake, but trust me, skip the lutefisk):
Tomorrow, Saturday, May 18th, at 7:30pm, Mission Peak Chamber Singers return to Christ the King Lutheran Church. There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:45pm. They will be singing Elaine Hagenberg’s choral masterpiece “Illuminare”, and songs from the mountains of Morocco performed by guest artist Fattah Abou. Ticket Prices: $15 to $45. For more information, please see their website:chambersingers.org. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. It’s going to be a wonderful experience in a transformed space.
So much is happening this Sunday, May 19. It’s the Day of Pentecost – WEAR RED! (not that I’m dictating fashion, it’s just traditional to wear red on what some consider to be the birthday of the church [and it doesn’t even look a day over 1,990 {more or less}]). After the service, there will be a Youth Bake Sale to benefit ELCA Good Gifts (https://goodgifts.elca.org/). Help the kids to get chicks, to get their goat, or even to have a cow. Be a pig – it’s for a good cause! There’s also a Spaghetti Feed Meeting after the service. It takes a lot of volunteers to put on this fundraiser. Find out how you can help make it a stravaganza straordinario. There’s even a Bell Choir Rehearsal at 11:30 am, plus it’s Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. But wait! If you act now, you also get an HTLC Council Meeting at noon! So much value all in one Sunday – it’s no wonder they call the time after Pentecost “Ordinary Time!”
