Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, October 27, is Reformation Sunday! Be sure to wear red if you can! It’s also Lutheran Loose Change Sunday. Remember, “Each time a coin in the coffer sounds, the church deficit goes down!” (at least we’re not promising souls springing from purgatory) This is the last week of our “old schedule” of 10 am Worship, 11:15 am Education, 11:30 am Bell Choir. It’s also the last day to sign up your loved ones’ names at the Media Table to be displayed in the bulletin and onscreen next Sunday for All Saints Sunday. It’s also the last day to email pictures of your loved ones to Carmen for display onscreen.
Thursday, October 31, we will have our Trunk-or-Treat from 5:30 pm to 8 pm in the church parking lot. Sign up at the Media Table to bring and decorate your car (or a parking spot), dress up (if you wish), and bring candy to hand out. The more, the merrier (and spookier!). Nachos, popcorn, and hot dogs and more will be available for a freewill offering. Even if you don’t want to participate, at least come on by, have dinner, schmooze with your church friends and neighbors, watch the urchins in their finery, and take a look at the lavish decorations. Don’t just stay at home putting up your Reformation Day tree!
Next Sunday, November 3, besides being the aforementioned All Saints Sunday, the “new schedule” starts and will look something like this:
- 8:30 am Coffee / worship preparation
- 9 am Music Practice
- 9:30 am Worship Service
- 10:45 am Fellowship / Coffee
Sunday School / Confirmation
Adult Forum (when available) - 11:30 am Bell Choir Practice
- 12:30 pm Council Meetings (usually on 2nd Sundays of the month)
Remember to turn back your clocks next Saturday night, November 2 (or Sunday, November 3 at 2 am, if you want to get technical). If you forget to turn back your clock and forget about the new church schedule, you’ll still wind up at church a half hour early. See? We got your back!
On November 10 and 17, Adult Forum returns (if briefly). Florence Pidakala, our Ministry in Context Student, will be leading an Adult Forum Bible Study at 10:45 am in the Activity Room. All are invited!
Also coming up in November are our Christ the King / Thankfulness Sunday and Thanksgiving Potluck on November 24, the Angel Tree (our annual drive for gifts for foster kids), and rehearsals for the Christmas Pageant (yes, that’s right, Christmas is only two months away. Panic now and avoid the rush!).
