Hi, Everybody. Lots of stuff happening this weekend and Holy Week (or unholy week if you’re doing taxes):
Tomorrow, Saturday, April 12, we will be having a Church Clean-up Day. Come on down in your work duds and help beautify the church for Holy Week and Easter! It starts at 9 am (I hear donuts may be involved) and lasts until whenever. There is also an extra Choir Practice at 10 am in the Sanctuary, so you may get a sneak peek (or the listening equivalent of a peek) of the musical the Choir is performing the next day!
So much is going on this Sunday that I had to split it into several paragraphs!
This Sunday, April 13, is Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday. We’re doing the whole Passion Sunday thing where you start on a high with palm-waving and hosannas, but by the end of the service you’re getting into Maundy Thursday/Good Friday seriousness. The Choir will be performing excerpts from the Easter musical Eyes of Faith in lieu of a sermon. Don’t miss it!
It’s also Scrip Sunday. Pamela Metcalf is placing a Scrip order for physical cards (which make great Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduation gifts). Members should get their orders to her by this Sunday morning. If you haven’t already signed up to order online, you can go to https://www.raiseright.com/ and sign up with enrollment code B768EC1D14576.
This Sunday is also the last day to sign up for the Easter Garden and still get your dedication in the bulletin. The sign-up is on the Media Table. Remember to print legibly (“Did you mean to dedicate your plant to Martian Loofah?”) and circle either “In Memory of” or “In Honor of.” Just bring your favorite plant or blooming flowers, any color or type, to the Activity Room by Saturday, April 19, at 10 am. Be sure to use a provided craft stick to mark them with your name so you can retrieve them after the Easter Service.
In addition this Sunday, there will be a Council Meeting at noon. All are invited.
No Tuesday Bible Study this week or next.Thursday, April 17, is
Maundy Thursday, the day we commemorate Jesus’ Last Supper. Christ the King will be hosting a Maundy Thursday Service at 6:30 pm, which we are invited to. Pastor Tim and our Bell Choir will also be involved in the service. Christ the King is located at 1301 Mowry Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538.
The next day, April 18, is Good Friday, the day we commemorate Jesus’ crucifixion. We will be holding a somber Good Friday Service at 7 pm here at Holy Trinity. It will be a tenebrae (Latin for darkness) style service with the extinguishing of candles. Please leave the church in silence at the end of the service.
Finally, we get to Easter on April 20. Worship is at the usual time, 9:30 am, followed by an Easter Breakfast in Holland Hall (at about 10:30-ish am). There will be an Egg Hunt for the kids at 11 am. No Sunday School or Confirmation since we’ll all be stuffing our faces where they usually meet.
