HTLC News – Friday, July 4th – Pentecost 4
Hello, Everyone!
This Sunday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is Nacho Nametag Sunday and Pentecost 4, where the disciples are tasked with walking barefoot after being compared with lambs among wolves! How will this come out?! At least Jesus sends them out two by two. Wait, I’ve heard “two by two” recently!
Last week the animals came to Noah’s Ark two by two!And 100% Chance of Rain was a rousing success! We had 23 Musical Theater Campers. One of the parents wrote: “[My daughter] loved everything about camp….She learned so many new things…made lots of friends… and is thrilled to come back next year with her [little sister] in tow!” We gave out 6 scholarships, and 9 new families joined our camp from the neighborhood! Together with the parents’ tuition, HTLC members’ generosity in providing supplies, Thrivent grants, scholarship money, and donations, we actually added a bit to our seed money for next year! Not to mention all of the folks who helped behind the scenes with financial stuff, and banners, and monitors, and shopping, and photographs, and – I just can’t name them all! Again, all of us, the staff and volunteers of Musical Theater Camp’s 3rd Annual Camp, thank you, HTLC members! You put your faith into action! Also – Here’s the new link for Sunday, June 29th worship that includes “100% Chance of Rain!
Are you going into Grades 6 – 12? Come join our new HTLC Youth Group! Thirteen youth joined our first HTLC Youth Meeting last Sunday! Many thanks to Aaron and Nate for leading in such a great way! The group did devotions, hid spoons, ate popcorn, made their own covenant as a group, prayed together, and got to know each other better. On Sunday they’ll be on again from 10:45 am to 12:15 pm, then for every Sunday this summer, before we take a break after August 17th, to get ready for Sunday School and Confirmation in September!
Hey, Where Are You Goin’ This Summer? Vicky has set up a bulletin board in the narthex that will be showing where in the world our Holy Trinity Christians will be this summer! So, whether you go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or to Greece, send the church a post card! Fun!
A Celebration of Life for Tammy Hobbs Saturday, July12th at 10 a.m. here at HTLC with a reception to follow.
What’s Happening in our Synod? We had a Synod Assembly Business Meeting on June 14th. Three resolutions were passed about Compensation Guidelines, Indian Boarding Schools, and ELCA participation in Legal Actions. We elected new Synod Council members. Check it out here. https://www.spselca.org/synod-assembly-2025
Okay church, we all need each other! And church is a great place to find your people! So, if you are a long-time member, take that moment to wear a nametag and connect with someone new over nachos! If you value church, why wouldn’t anyone else? Think about who you could invite for next week. And if you are new, welcome!
Blessings,
Pr. Barbara
