HTLC News, July 11, 2025 – Pentecost 5

Hi, Everyone! I thought this HTLC News email would get shorter once June was over. Uh, nope!

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 12th, we are having a Celebration of Life for Tammy Hobbs at 10 am. There will be a reception afterwards and all are invited.

This Sunday, July 13th is Pentecost 5 and after worship starts at 9:30, you’ll hear the story of the Good Samaritan. Speaking of somebody doing good, it’s Scrip Sunday, so if you plan to spend your usual amount of money, buy Scrip and, for the same price, you’ll be helping the ministry here to thrive! Youth Group meets from 10:45 am to 12:15 pm and Tongan Worship is a 1 pm.

As she receives postcards and pictures, Vicky will be setting up a bulletin board in the narthex showing where in the world our Holy Trinity Christians will be and have been this summer!  So, whether you go to Mission San José  or to Georgia, send the church a post card! Fun!

Will we have a white Christmas this year? Well, not in July! But we will have Christmas in July on the 20th!  All of our hymns that day will be Christmas Carols! We’ll have our July “Christmas Tree” (I understand it’s a fake ficus plant…) that you can put your Adopt an Angel supplies under! Maybe you can even buy them with Scrip! (See Sunday’s insert to find out how!). And – most importantly in my book – sign up this Sunday to bring Christmas goodies!

The Youth have been filling up the Youth Room with young people and are grateful to all who put things away to enable them to use it. And if your heart is breaking about the young people – and others! – caught in the floods in Texas and New Mexico, remember, Lutheran Disaster Response is there. If you wish to support LDR check out ELCA.org/flooding/donate.

Lastly, we had a glitch during worship on June 29th during the Musical Theater Camp performance, but our AV Team is on it! Here is the new link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTBzcL2AV_o

Alright, take care and have faith!

Blessings,
