HTLC News – August 15, 2025 Pentecost 10
Hello, Everyone!
This Sunday, August 17th, we will be celebrating the 10th Sunday of Pentecost, where one reading says that Jesus is the perfector of our faith and another one says that families will be divided because of that very faith! Good luck, Pastor Tim! It is also Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. Youth Group will meet at 10:45 am, then take the next two Sundays off and meet again on Rally Sunday.
Well, Holy Trinity folks have travelled all over the world during our summer hiatus (see the bulletin board to prove it!), and soon it will be time to begin all of those ministries we love so much! Sunday School, Choir, Tuesday Bible Study, Bell Choir, Confirmation, Youth Group (although they did meet all summer), Praise Band (oh, they did, too). Well, at least Church Council took a week off! What did I forget?
Dedication
Bell Choir will play for the first time on August 24th and Vocal Choir rehearsals start Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30! Talk to Dot if you are interested in Vocal Choir. She says, Come sing, connect, and lift your voice in praise—there’s a spot waiting just for you! And don’t miss Sunday, September 7th! Bring your briefcases and backpacks to be blessed in worship. Hear the dedicated Sunday School teachers and leaders make a commitment to the children and adults as they are installed that day. After worship, explore the Ministry Faire tables as leaders explain their various ministries. And you can get a prize if you fill your passport. People with filled passports can also put their name in to get one of the larger prizes! The best prize would be to find yourself called to do something new! And don’t miss the Bake Sale table! Yum!
Celebration
Oktoberfest will be on September 28th! What?? Yep! Oktoberfest is a season! This year it runs from Sat. Sep 20th to Sun, October 5th! For Holy Trinity, it will be an Oktoberfest Brunch right after church with your favorite Oktoberfest foods, including potato salad, brats, and root beer floats!! October brings our Animal Blessing Service and. Children’s Sabbath.
Transformation
The Youth are taking the lead! You’ll hear more in coming days, but put this in your calendar! Coastal/Park Cleanup Fremont – September 20th from 9 – noon. Check out the Adult Forum – ABODE – August 24th, 10:45 am – 11:45 am. Vivian Wan, CEO of Abode Services will describe Abode’s work in Fremont and beyond. She will walk through a brief history of homelessness, describe the current crisis, and describe evidence-based solutions. She will break down many of the myths around homelessness and share real facts and connections. She hopes that the final portion of the talk is a “call to action”, sharing ideas, small and large about how every person can be part of the solution.
