Hello, Everyone!
This coming Sunday is September 7th, also known as the 13th Sunday of Pentecost, Rally Day, and Nacho Nametag Sunday! The readings are designed to take us all to task this week, so listen carefully! During Worship, which starts at 9:30 am, we’ll bless the backpacks and briefcases and install our Sunday School and Youth Leaders. After Worship there is a Ministry Faire and a Youth and Children’s Bake Sale on the patio! Don’t miss it! There are prizes to be won! The Bell Choir rehearses at 11:15-ish, depending on the other activities, and our Tongan Worship is at 1:00 pm.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study Resumes September 9th at 10 am Unafraid – Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times. Pastor Tim leads this study – He says it’s, “for anyone struggling with fear, worry, or anxiety, or who wonders how families and communities can live as peacemakers in troubled times This long-standing bible study has stood the test of time. It’s a great thing to be a part of!
Here are some things to do with your hands!
- Kids, join our director, Ann, in the Children’s Bell Choir Sunday mornings at 9:15 am in Holland Hall.
- God’s Work. Our Hands – Anyone of any age – SIGN UP in the narthex to take part in the Coastal/Park Cleanup Fremont – September 20th from 9 am to noon. We’ll contact you about where we’re going closer to the event.
- Lutheran World Relief Kits! – We’ll put together Personal Care Kits for distribution by Lutheran World Relief to our neighbors in need throughout the world. Meet on the patio after worship September 21st! Check out LWR.org and talk to Christina, Cheryl, or Linda for more information.
That Hospitality Team is at it again! Our Oktoberfest Brunch will be September 28th right after church! Have your favorite Oktoberfest foods, including Sausages (brats, polish, hot dogs), Currywurst, German Potato Salad, Cabbage, Kraut, Kugel or Mac n Cheese, Ice tea/water/lemonade, Root beer floats, and if that isn’t enough, Assorted desserts! Sign ups to attend – and to help – are in the narthex.
Folks are doing stuff! Kate updated our First Aid Kit in preparation of a new year of Sunday School & is keeping it updated! And – our Trellis Committee is working with Council to find ways to move the ministry forward! The Trellis Committee’s mission is to recommend a framework (trellis) to council: (1) for deciding how to invest large gifts (plant the seeds), and (2) for ensuring that we’re following Jesus with our path forward aimed at strengthening our ministries, serving the community around us, and generally, letting our light shine.
Worship Stuff!
Something new in worship! (or something old, depending on your point of view!).We will be adding a Healing Station in the back of the sanctuary during worship once a month, starting on September 21st. Pastor Tim and Pastor Barbara will take turns praying with folks during communion. Pastor Tim is up first.
