HTLC News Blast – February 6, 2026
Hello Everyone!
This coming Sunday is February 8th, 2026 and is the 5th Sunday after Epiphany. It is also Scrip Sunday, so talk to Pamela about how. I recently signed up and it’s an easy way to up my giving without an extra cost to me! Worship and Livestreaming begins at 9:30 am followed by the Souper Bowl of Caring where we eat a simple meal and donate so that others can eat! There’s still time to bring soup, but there’s even more time to eat it together with your friends after church. Better yet, sit by someone you don’t know and make a new friend! Sunday School, Youth Group, and Bell Choir will not meet this Sunday. Tongan Worship is at 1:00 pm.
Souper Bowl of Caring

HTLC has participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring since 2005. In that time we have raised and donated $16,645 and also donated over2500 pounds of food. Donations have supported LUV Newark, Tri-City Volunteers, Irvington Free Breakfast and Centerville Free Dining. Born from a simple prayer in 1990, Tackle Hunger began with a single youth group inspired to turn Super Bowl weekend into a national time of giving. What started in one church in South Carolina has grown into a national nonprofit movement, empowering communities across the country to fight food insecurity by supporting local charities. Through grassroots action, youth leadership, and the iconic Souper Bowl of Caring campaign, Tackle Hunger has generated over $220 million in food and funds— helping to ensure no one goes without a bowl of soup to eat. Today you have the opportunity again to contribute to this great event and have some great soup!
Adult Forums
Our Trellis Committee is calling two Adult Forums on March 8th and April 19th after church at 10:45 am in the Activity Room. The purpose is to dream together about HTLC projects (come with ideas!) and to introduce the formal proposal process of applying for funds. The meetings are being led by the Trellis committee members. Ann Harren is the committee chair.
