This Sunday, January 14, is the 2nd Sunday of Epiphany and Scrip Sunday. There is no Sunday School or Confirmation. There is an HTLC Council Meeting at 11:30 am and Psalms Bible Study is at 1pm. The Jesus & Justice Collective Community Resource Fair is 2 pm – 4 pm at 505 Driscoll Road, Fremont, CA 94539, Building C in the Gym of Bridges Community Church. Next Sunday, January 21, there will be an HRLC Congregational Meeting following the worship service in the Sanctuary. Sunday School and Confirmation will resume meeting at 11:15 am as well. Also following the worship service is a Hospitality Orientation. Are you interested in helping with food at church events? Find out what is involved, where everything is, and how you can help. I promise you, it’s the tastiest committee at church!
Attached to this email is a PDF of the HTLC proposed constitutional amendments we will be voting on at the HTLC Annual Meeting on February 25. These amendments are to bring us in line with the ELCA’s changes to their model constitution. Printed copies are available at the Media Table for members who do not receive our emails. If you’d like to read the ELCA’s reasons for the changes (and who wouldn’t?!) you can email John Williams, our constitutional expert-in-residence-because-no-one-else-will-do-it. Or you can pick up a copy at the Media Table.
January 28 is RIC Sunday. The last Sunday in January is when many Reconciling in Christ churches, like Holy Trinity, celebrate their official welcome to the LGBTQIA+ community. RIC churches have gone through a process to ensure that their welcome is intentional to those who are not always assured that “all are welcome” actually means ALL. Feel free to wear rainbows and bring your most garishly colored treats!
