Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, May 21, is the 7th Sunday of Easter, Ascension Sunday, Fill the Food Barrel Sunday, and the last day of Sunday School until Rally Day in September. It’s also jam-packed with stuff to do! (sorry, no actual jam involved) Let’s give each activity its own paragraph!
There is a very important Holy Redeemer Congregational Meeting at 12:15 pm in the Sanctuary and all HRLC members are urged to attend. Changes are afoot and decisions are being made. Remember, if you don’t come and have your say, you’re not allowed to complain later! (Keith’s rule #1 of church meetings)
A Spaghetti Feed Planning Meeting will be held following service this Sunday. Due to time constraints the first portion of the meeting will be used to orient new friends from HRLC about ways to support the event before they have to leave for a congregational meeting and then boring details will be discussed by more veteran Spaghetti Feed volunteers. Unable to attend? Have no fear…here are the Top 5 ways that anyone can support the Spaghetti Feed:
5) Get excited about it! Sat, June 24th will get here fast.
4) Volunteer (set up/take down, decorating, food service, ticket sales, assist with raffle/auction, supervising children’s games/activities, etc.)
3) Donate a themed gift basket for silent auction/raffle (previous themes have included BBQ gear, beach day, wine/liquor, family game night, stay-at-home movie night, etc.)
2) Donate a handmade gift for silent auction (previous items have included beaded art work, wood work, knitted/sewn blankets or quilts)
1) Invite family and friends to join in the fun!
After those meetings, you can probably still make it to the Jesus and Justice Collective Event from
2 pm to 4:45 pm, at South Bay Community Church, 47385 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont. Watch the film “Far East, Deep South” about a Chinese American family’s search for their roots in the Mississippi Delta. To learn more and to register, click here or go to jesusandjusticecollective.org.
Tuesday, May 23, is the last Tuesday Bible Study session before going on summer hiatus. If you come on Tuesdays after that, I’ll put you to work cleaning my office (unless you bring chocolate).
Don’t forget to sign up your kids (kindergarten through 8th grade) for Holy Trinity’s first Musical Summer Camp which takes place 10 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, June 19 through 23. They’ll be rehearing the musical “Oh, Jonah!” for performances on Friday, June 23, at 6:30 pm, and during the 10 am worship service on Sunday, June 25. The cost will be $225 if you sign up by June 1, $250 after. Click here for more information and to register!
Please consider being one of Holy Trinity’s voting members to attend the Sierra Pacific Synod Assembly in September in Burlingame. We can send two people and possibly a third person (if they are a person of color, have a primary language other than English, or are a youth or young adult). You’ll get to vote for a new Bishop! And remember, we can’t complain about the new Bishop if we don’t vote (see Keith’s rules of church meetings, rule #1, sub-rule e: synod assemblies – election of bishops). Work with Terri MacFarlane regarding registration.
