HTLC News Blast – August 29, 2025 – Pentecost 12
Hello Everyone!
This Sunday, August 31st, we will be celebrating the 12th Sunday of Pentecost, where those in need are the subject of both readings! It is also the 5th Sunday so things will be pretty quiet this week. No children’s programming or choirs this Sunday. It’s a good day to catch your breath, because all kinds of things will happen the following Sunday!
You don’t want to miss Sunday, September 7th! We’ll hear from the Choir for the first time, bless both Backpacks and Briefcases, and install our Sunday School teachers! After church the children are hosting a Bake Sale and rallying all the troops to join Sunday School. The Council is holding a Ministry Faire. Curiosity is the key for this faire. Find out what’s happening. You’ll receive a Passport and, if you visit all of the tables, you’ll get a Small Prize AND the chance to be in a drawing for a Bigger Prize! Come join the fun and see where the Holy Spirit may spark your interest!
September 20th and 21st is God’s Work Our Hands weekend at Holy Trinity. Save the dates of Saturday, September 20th from 9 – noon for Coastal/Park Cleanup in Fremont. If that day won’t work for you you can come pack up kits for Lutheran World Relief on the 21st. After worship we’ll gather on the patio to put things together. Check out LWR.org and talk to Christina, Cheryl, or Linda for more information.
Have you noticed that Holy Trinity in Fremont is a very participatory ministry? There are several churchy words for that – one of them is “Stewardship.” Whether you are spending some time, or using your talents, or providing financial support to serve other people, you are “stewarding” the gifts God has given you for the good of your neighbors and the world. Next week’s Ministry Faire is a great opportunity to check out new ways of stewarding your gifts at HTLC!
Our Vocal Choir, adult Bell Choir and Children’s Bell Choirs are all gearing up for worship. There is still room in our Adult Choir (Practice Wednesdays at 6:30) and Children’s Bell Choir (starts Sunday Sep. 14th at 9:15 am), if you or your child are interested. Talk to Dot for the adults and Ann for the children. Check out the worship tables if you’d like to be of help at the A/V booth!
Tuesday Morning Bible Study resumes September 9th at 10 am. Pastor Tim will facilitate a study of the book, Unafraid – Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times. Pastor Tim leads this study. It is for anyone struggling with fear, worry, or anxiety, or who wonders how families and communities can live as peacemakers in troubled times. Unafraid offers an informed and inspiring message full of practical solutions. We will explore the worries and fears that all of us experience and discover practical steps for overcoming them in the light of Scripture.
Last week we had an adult forum with Vivian Wan, the CEO of Abode Ministries. It was well-attended and very informative! Vivian’s invitation came from our Council’s new committee, the Trellis Committee. So, “What’s a Trellis Committee, you ask! Well, I asked, and Ann answered. “The mission of the HTLC Trellis Committee is to recommend a framework (trellis) to council: (1) for deciding how to invest large gifts (plant the seeds), and (2) for ensuring that we’re following Jesus with our path forward aimed at strengthening our ministries, serving the community around us, and generally, letting our light shine.” Pretty awesome, I say!
Lastly, Oktoberfest will be Sept 28th! Yeah, we know it’s not in October, but it doesn’t have to be! For Holy Trinity, our Oktoberfest Brunch will be right after church with your favorite Oktoberfest foods, prepared by our amazing Hospitality Committee! It will include Sausages (brats, polish, hot dogs), Currywurst, German Potato Salad, Cabbage, Kraut, Kugel or Mac n Cheese, Ice tea/water/lemonade, Root beer floats, and if that isn’t enough, Assorted desserts! Your friends and family will love it! Invite them! Sign ups to attend – and to help – are in the narthex.
