HTLC News Blast, September 19, 2025

Hello, Everyone!

This coming Sunday is September 21st, Pentecost 15, Fill the Food Barrel (with pet food), and God’s Work Our Hands Sunday. And in the Gospel Jesus talks about money!

Thank you to the 16 folks who are taking part in Fremont’s Coastal Cleanup tomorrow, and those putting together the Lutheran World Relief Kits after church! If you would like to support the LWF Kits financially, you may designate your gift through HTLC “for LWR Shipping.”

Spiritual Stuff!

  • Did you ever have a hankering for one on one prayer with your pastor? Sunday, Pastor Tim will be in the back of the sanctuary during communion to do just that. He’ll be offering this each month.
  • The Devotionals are here! Christ in our Home and The Word in Season for Oct, Nov, Dec, in both small and large print are on the media table in the narthex.
  • Tuesday Morning Bible Study  – 10 am 11-ish! “Unafraid – Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times.” Pastor Tim leads this study. For anyone struggling with fear, worry, or anxiety, Unafraid offers an informed and inspiring message.
  • Animal Blessing Sunday will be on October 5th at Noon! Bring your pets to be blessed at this wonderful service! It would be a great week to bring dry pet food (cat food is the most needed) for the Pet Meals on Wheels program.
  • October 19th Children’s Sabbath Worship! Our young people will be honing their skills to make worship happen that day!

Stuff to Learn!

  • Scrip Adult Forum – On October 5th, starting at 10:45 am Pam will show us how to order Scrip gift cards for gas, groceries, restaurants and so much more.  You pay the same amount you would anyway, and it benefits HTLC’s ministries!
  • Read Up on It! At a recent adult forum on homelessness, Vivian Wan recommended a couple of books to read. Rene got them for us! Homelessness is a Housing Problem, and In the Midst of Plenty are in the narthex, on the media table. Just take one, read it, and bring it back so that others can also become more informed.
  • Did you know we need your help? Recently, there have been windows left open and toilets & faucets have been left running. Thank you for double checking!
  • Children’s Bell Choir – Sundays at 9:15 in Holland Hall. Check with Ann if your child is interested!

Fun and Other Stuff!

  • Oktoberfest September 28th! Our Oktoberfest Brunch will be right after church with your favorite Oktoberfest foods, including Sausages (brats, polish, hot dogs), Currywurst, German Potato Salad, Cabbage, Kraut, Kugel or Mac n Cheese, Ice tea/water/lemonade, Root beer floats, and if that isn’t enough, assorted desserts! Sign ups to attend – and to help – are in the narthex.
  • Have a 2026 Calendar Yet? If you are looking for a 2026 calendar, there are a bunch of them in the Parish Life Coordinator’s office.
  • Here’s our newest Newsletter from the Synod. Sierra Pacific Synod September 18th Newsletter

Look at all that is going on! What a wonderful congregation!

Blessings,
