Hi, Everybody. Hot enough for ya?
Well, at least we’ve got new boilers for our heating systems! You remember that this past spring we had a small fire in Holland Hall that destroyed, among other things, the boiler? Well, this week we’ve been having workers install new boilers in Holland Hall and the Sanctuary. Why the Sanctuary? Because that boiler was nearly 60 years old (even older than me!). It was rusty, inefficient, and possibly dangerous (even more than me!). Here’s a picture of the old and new. I’ll let you guess which is which.
That’s why this Sunday, August 16, Pastor Tim’s video is coming to you from a different part of the church – the outside! We were trying (not altogether successfully) to avoid construction noises. This Sunday is also the 11th Sunday after Pentecost and Fill the Food Barrel Sunday, if you’re keeping track. Details on Zoom Communion and Coffee Chat will be in Sunday’s email.
A message from Kathy Miedema: Even though there’s a pandemic and we can’t gather, we wanted to let you know that through Holy Trinity’s support, Helping Hands has continued to lend a hand to other organizations. Our projects in the last months include:
- Supplies for foster children at Agape Villages in San Leandro such as home-made blankets and crocheted stuffed animals, snack bags and personal supplies
- Cards and letters for elderly residents at local care homes such as Fremont Hills
- A donation to help Uniti Resources Inc. drivers continue to bring food to under-served families in San Francisco during the pandemic.
Please see the cards and letter below, which are thank-yous to Holy Trinity for your kindness and generosity to the communities around them. We’ll hang them on the bulletin board when we all get back to church!
The Spaghetti Feed is getting closer (Aug. 29). Have you sent in your reservation payment? Don’t forget that each meal ticket purchased gets you a raffle ticket to win A PAIR of AirBuds!! (fancy earphones) Payment for tickets can be done electronically via Give+ or Give+ Text (http://holytrinityfremont.org/get-involved/support/) or mailed to HTLC with a note of what the check is for. You are also asked to send a short note to plc@xti.xrd.mybluehost.me of payment amount and description of order so we can confirm all information. Auction items for the event will be posted on the HTLC website on Sunday, Aug 23rd and will once again have a wide variety of great options that include gift baskets, gift certificates, wine and wine tasting, sports memorabilia, items for children, passes for various family activities and more!
Tired of seeing the same old (and young) people in Sunday’s videos? Volunteer to become a Lay Liturgist or Reader. Just contact Pastor Tim, Carmen Blair, or me. It’s easy – I email you the bulletin and Carmen records you in a Zoom session. This could be your chance to become an internet sensation!
Okay, I’m getting out of here before they try out the heating system. Stay cool!
