Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, August 22, is the 13th Sunday after Pentecost and Luther Loose Change Sunday (check those sofas and car ashtrays!). The schedule is the summer new normal: Zoom Coffee Chat at 9:15 a.m., Zoom Communion at 9:30 a.m., Outdoor Worship Service at 10 a.m., and a pre-recorded Online Worship Service will be available.
Rally Day is coming up on September 12 – only three weeks away! That’s when we would old-old-normally be going back to two services, welcoming back Sunday School and Adult Forum, starting up choir, having “God’s Work, Our Hands” day, etc. This year, we’re sticking to our summer new normal schedule of Coffee Chat at 9:15 am, Zoom Communion at 9:30 am, and a single 10 am Outdoor Worship Service (which I guess becomes the fall new new normal schedule). Pre-recorded Online Worship Services will continue to be available as well. Sunday School time is still to be determined, but it will likely be via Zoom for at least a few more months. Schedules, dates, and formats for Adult Forum and Confirmation Class are yet to be formalized. More details about Rally Day will be forthcoming as soon as they come forth.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of sign-ups, the Tri-City ELCA churches’ Kids’ Theater Project has been cancelled. Hopefully, when the pandemic situation gets better and it’s easier and safer for children and teens to gather, we can try again.
Obviously, we are all disappointed that things aren’t going back to the old old normal schedule on Rally Day (I really thought it would happen this year – darn that COVID!), but at least this year we are able to meet in person. If it rains, we can spread out in Holland Hall with all the doors and windows open. If it’s too smoky, we’ll likely cancel service so you can stay at home with all the doors and windows closed (and pray for rain – but not lightning!).
Stay well!
– Keith, your friendly Parish Life Coordinator (i.e. Church Secretary)
