Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, February 12, is the 6th Sunday after Epiphany and Scrip Sunday. It’s also Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday as we join the national effort to gather food and monetary donations for local food charities. Remember to bring your non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations! After the worship service, we will have a Soup Potluck in Holland Hall which will include the nachos you’ve been salivating for all week!
Also this Sunday, we will be welcoming New Members Claudette Haskins, Johnson Solomon, Abinaya Vadivel, Jason Deo, Jaden Deo, Shirley Engel, and Carolyn Crabtree. Claudette joined during COVID, but we never did an official welcome (shame on us!). Johnson’s family also started coming during COVID and they are now making membership official. Shirley and Carolyn are transferring from HRLC. We welcome them all as official voting members of Holy Trinity! (Now we can teach them the secret handshake!)
The Celebration of Life for Cheryl Hall will be held at Holy Trinity on Saturday, February 18, at 11 am with a reception following. You are encouraged to wear purple (her favorite color). There is a sign-up at the Media Table to bring hand-held desserts.
If you come to Holy Trinity on Sunday, February 19, you’re going to be awfully lonely because the rest of us will worshiping at Holy Redeemer in Newark! The service is at 10 am and the address is 35660 Cedar Blvd. Newark, CA 94560. This will be their last Sunday there for a while because they will begin worshiping with us as they discern their future as a church. Plan to stay for their Mardi Gras celebration! (Laissez les bon temps rouler!)
February 22 is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of the season of Lent . We will be holding an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 pm. This service will include the traditional imposition of the ashes on the forehead as a reminder of our mortality (not the most cheerful of services).
Mark your calendars! HTLC’s Annual Congregational Meeting is February 26 at 11 am. This year, we will be attempting a hybrid meeting (in-person and Zoom) to be held in the sanctuary. All members are urged to attend and vote. Find out what Holy Trinity has been up to this past year and help decide where we are headed. (Come see the new members flex their voting muscles!)
