This Sunday, February 27, is Transformation Sunday (Jesus dazzles on a mountain), Bold Women’s Sunday (special liturgies lifting up women), and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday (when a coin in the coffer rings, an angel gets its wings – or something like that). It’s Annual Meeting time! (Feb 27 at noon by Zoom) Find out what’s been going on at church this past year, what’s in store for our future, vote for council members, approve a budget (unlike Congress), and most importantly, be counted for a quorum! All from the comfort of your own home! (or your favorite bar with Wi-Fi) I’ll be sending out the Annual Report by email once it’s finalized, along with the Zoom information.
Next up, it’s Ash Wednesday on March 2. Ash Wednesday is the start of the season of Lent. We will have an in-person/streaming service at 7pm. If you will be joining us from home on YouTube and want to make your own ashes prior to the service, I’ve attached a ritual you can use. I’ll send a reminder on Ash Wednesday itself.
Throughout the season of Lent, we will have Midweek Lenten Services at 6:30 pm here at Holy Trinity in conjunction with Christ the King and Holy Redeemer. The half-hour meditative services will include Taizé music, dramatic readings, and questions to ponder. The services will be available in-person, streaming on YouTube, and by Zoom. Please join us.
Congratulations! We’ve had our best Souper Bowl of Caring EVER! We took in $1000.00 and 25 food items all going to LOV Newark and their food pantry. I’m so proud of you all (and that’s not even sarcasm!).
Let’s celebrate Easter in a new way with a Tri-Cities ELCA Virtual Easter Pageant! The video performance will be on Holy Saturday, April 16th, at Holy Redeemer, both in-person and on Zoom. The time is still to be determined. Actors of all ages are needed. (Up to 40 people!). No memorization required! You can film at your church or on Zoom. Helpers are needed, too!
