HTLC News Email, January 21, 2022

Hi, Everybody.  I’m makin’ it short and sweet today:

This Sunday, January 23, is the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday.  Since Pastor Tim is gone this week, we will not be holding Zoom Communion and there also will be no Children’s Time video posted on our YouTube channel or website.  Everything else will be as usual.

Next Sunday, January 30, is RIC or Reconciling in Christ Sunday.  The last Sunday in January is when we, along with many other Lutheran churches, celebrate our intentional welcome to the LGBTQIA+ community.  We will include a responsive reading of our Welcome Statement within the service.

Also next Sunday, after the 10 am service, the Helping Hands crew of Sunday School children will be setting up tables at the far end of the parking lot (in front of Holland Hall) and putting together snack bags and personal care bags for drivers at Abode to deliver to homeless camps around the Bay Area.  This is funded by Marielle’s Winter Relief Project, which was December’s Cause of the Month (thank you to all who contributed!).  Marielle and the Miedema family will bring all donations and additional supplies and provide guidance.  Anyone who would like to join them is welcome!  In the past it has taken them about an hour to put bags together.  They hope to make 125 snack bags and about 100 personal care bags.

That’s it for now.  Goofy Keith will return next week (is that a promise or a threat?).
