HTLC News Email, January 3, 2025

Hi, Everybody:  Happy New Year and 10th day of Christmas (whether you spend it with lords a-leaping is up to you).

This Sunday, January 5, we will be celebrating Epiphany Sunday (yes, technically it’s the 12th day of Christmas and Epiphany is on January 6, but we usually observe Epiphany on the closest Sunday).  It’s when we celebrate the wise men finding the baby Jesus.  At the end of the service, we will light our candles, turn off the Christmas tree lights, and carry the light of our individual candles out into the world.  It’s also Nacho Name Tag Sunday.  There is a Council Meeting at 11 am in the Activity Room.  The early time is due to there being no Sunday School, Confirmation or Bell Choir Rehearsal this Sunday.

A celebration of life for Neal Bierbaum, will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 11 am here at Holy Trinity.  It will be followed by a lunch.  All are invited.  You may view his obituary at https://fremontchapeloftheroses.com/obituaries/neal-r-bierbaum/

This is the last Sunday to pick up your poinsettias from Christmas Eve before they either go home with someone else or become compost (still a better fate than slowly dying of neglect).  Please leave behind any saucers underneath them as we use them from year to year.

Various groups will be returning to activity this month:  Choir rehearsals will start up again on Wednesday, January 8 at 6:30 pm with Praise Band rehearsal at 7:30 pm.  Bell Choir rehearsals will return on Sunday, January 12 at 11:30 am. Tuesday Bible Study will start again on January 14 at 10 am. Sunday School and Confirmation will begin meeting again on January 19 at 10:45 am.

Holy Trinity’s Annual Congregational Meeting will take place on February 23, 2024, following the 9:30 am worship service.  You have hereby officially been given notice.  Please consider becoming an Associate Member or a full Voting Member of Holy Trinity so you can have your say at the Annual Meeting.  Voting members may also be elected to serve on the Church Council (this is not a threat).  Please contact Pastor Tim for details.

If you didn’t get a Christmas ornament at the Christmas Eve services, there are still a few left in a basket at the Usher’s Table in the narthex.  The ornaments depict various Christmas carols.  Hurry, or you’ll be stuck with “The Twelve Days of Christmas” (not an actual option).
