HTLC News Email, March 21, 2025

Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, March 23, is the 3rd Sunday in Lent and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday (Lutherans? Change?).  Worship is at 9:30 am, Sunday School & Confirmation at 10:45, and Bell Choir at 11:30.

The Church Council Committee Liaisons have been assigned, and here they are:

  • Communications – Laurence Miedema
  • Education/Youth – Marta Wicke
  • Endowment – Claudette Haskins
  • Facilities – Kevin Mesa
  • Finance – Erik Holland & Terri MacFarlane
  • Hospitality – Bryan MacFarlane
  • Mutual Ministry – Pamela Metcalf
  • Outreach & Social Concerns – Kellie Smith
  • Property – Jay Schaefer
  • Stewardship – Linda Headrick
  • Worship – Gina Herman

Feel free to pester them with your concerns (so they don’t become liaise-y!).

Spring has sprung!  It occurred on March 20th at 2:01 AM to be exact.  This means it is time for Spring Cleaning, which HTLC traditionally has set for the Saturday before Palm Sunday, April 12.  Please mark this date on your calendar (and not so you can avoid it!) as we prepare the church buildings and grounds for Holy Week.

Yes, Easter is sneaking up on us (April 20) and you can help beautify the sanctuary by contributing to our Easter Garden!  On Easter Sunday, a riot of colorful flowers will decorate the  sanctuary.  You can sign up at the Media Table to bring your favorite plant or blooming flowers – any color or type.  The plants or flowers can be given in memory of or in honor of someone special to you and your family. The names will appear in the bulletin on Easter Sunday.  Purchase your own plants and bring them to the Activity Room by Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. (but don’t bring them too early.  If they die, we may not be able to “resurrect” them!)   Please print legibly to avoid misspellings, and be sure to circle “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” on the sign-up sheets.

We continue to hold our half-hour Midweek Lenten Services on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm throughout Lent.  Each service includes a short, thought-provoking skit written by Kathleen Keating.  The series is called Martin’s (& Katie’s) Table, a reimagining of Luther’s famous “Table Talks.”  This Wednesday’s installment is called “Love Is Service”
