Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, March 28, Holy Week kicks off with Palm/Passion Sunday – when Jesus enters Jerusalem riding a borrowed colt over palm leaves strewn by his adoring fans (must have been fan palms!).  things turn ugly pretty quickly, though, and by the end of the Gospel reading he ends up in a borrowed tomb (and you think you’ve had a bad week!).  We’ll be having the usual pre-recorded Online Worship Service along with Zoom Coffee Chat and Communion at 9:15 and 9:45 a.m.  There will be no Confirmation Class this Sunday.

Holy Week continues on Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus washing his disciples’ feet.  We’ll have a pre-recorded Online Worship Service including a drama of the inner thoughts of those present at the Last Supper called “Is it I?”.  At the end of the service, the altar is stripped (of paraments – not varnish!) in preparation for…

Good Friday – commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion, death, and burial.  This year we are having a pre-recorded Online Tenebrae Service (Latin for darkness) which involves the extinguishing of candles along with readings.  This solemn service is probably best watched at night in a darkened room for the full effect.  You could even have your own candles on hand to extinguish, though you’ll need 14, or 15 if you count the Jesus candle!  (I doubt that birthday cake candles would last the whole service)

Then, of course, comes Easter Sunday – the day Jesus rises from the dead!  We will be having a Live-by-Zoom/YouTube Service at 9:30 a.m. (Zoom/YouTube links and info will be coming later).  The Drive-Thru Easter Breakfast follows starting at 10:30.  Be sure to place your order and reserve your pick-up time by Good Friday!

Great News!  Charles and Amanda Bartlett have welcomed a new member to their family!  Benjamin Price was born on March 16.  He was 5 lbs and 13 oz.  He did have to stay in the NICU for a week.  He is home with the family now.  Prayers of thanksgiving for a safe delivery for Amanda and for Benjamin coming home.

– Keith, your friendly Parish Life Coordinator (i.e. Church Secretary)
