Hi, Everybody:
First, the sad news: Beloved HTLC member Tom Stevenin passed away on Thursday evening. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time. Details for a celebration of his life will be coming soon.
This Sunday, March 9, is the 1st Sunday of Lent and Scrip Sunday. It’s also the day we switch to Daylight Savings Time, so be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night. Adult Forum is back this Sunday at 10:45 am, and Sunday School and Confirmation Class are at 10:45 as well. Bell Choir rehearses at 11:30 am, and there is a Council Meeting at 12:30 pm in the Activity Room.
The Lenten devotional booklet titled Unbroken: A Living Faith is available at https://holytrinityfremont.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Unbroken_Devotional_-_Lent_2025.pdf. A few printed copies are also available on the Media Table. It contains daily readings and weekly video QR codes to scan with your phone.
Midweek Lenten Services: We will be holding brief, half-hour meditative services on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm throughout Lent. They will feature music from Haugen’s Holden Evening Prayer and short thought-provoking skits written by Kathleen Keating called Martin’s (& Katie’s) Table, a reimagining of Luther’s famous “Table Talks”. The themes of the season of Lent, and especially Holy Week, will be discussed in modern terms, but with the flavor of the Luthers’ writings. The intent is to immerse the congregation in the lively, yet scholarly, atmosphere at the Luther’s home, and to bring to life the theology and personality that inadvertently shaped the modern world through his powerful rhetoric & deeply rooted belief in the astounding grace of God. This Wednesday’s installment is called “A Prayer Lifted Is a Prayer Heard.”
We had a sound issue during the first part of last Sunday’s livestream, but there is now an uploaded recording on our YouTube channel which has all of the sound. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/IxowxoGpZV0. Also, the email I sent out with the link for the Ash Wednesday Service bounced back. Twice. Here is that link: https://youtube.com/live/eTH7TpoaiV0.
